The extent to which African countries were able to conduct independent policies during the cold war period was one that was rigorous.

It was found out that only two African states such as Ethiopia and Liberia  survived while a lot of others  failed but there were lots of agitations and movements by African countries against foreign policies and involvement.

The Independence movement in Africa was one that began in the early 1960’s. It is one that brought about a lot of foreign policy opportunities to  the United States as well as the Soviet Union.

A lot of African countries were able to conduct independent policies during the cold war period through the use of different movement such as the African nationalist movement and other forms of agitations.
