The characters' situation at the end is no different than at the beginning.
There is no plot resolution and the characters do not change during the play. Providing that the play themes revolve around the meaningless character of life and the cyclical nature of human existence, Samuel Beckett engaged in a circular and repetitious plot with no conclusion or final interpretation and the characters trapped in meaningless round of activities in order to question the absurdity of existence.
