Family is coined by our society to consist of parents and their children. Based on our modern day families, we now have couples with no children, couples that form with children from previous marriages, gay couples, etc.
People want to belong, they have a need to identify with others when their "family" at home is broken. We also come to realize that our family unit can be viewed differently in our society.
For instance, gangs consider other members their "family." I don't believe there is a such thing as "normal" family. We all want to belong to a group to feel like we are contributing to our society, whether that be through a "normal" family or a more modern day version of family.

A positive psychologist is the one that helps an individual
gain positive mind set towards his or her life. They help an individual foresee
positivity in their minds, their behavior, attitude towards themselves and to
others and how these can affect their life. A positive psychologist can treat
depression by helping the concerned individual get through with his or her
depression by pointing out the goodness of life, of how everything is not just
what the person sees, that there is something more. The positive psychologist
will widen the person’s mind and point out that there is more than what the
person’s think of how positivity can affect his life. The positive psychologist
explains depression in a way of how a negativity can affect an individual’s
life.
I would say that the sectional tensions strengthened during the 1850s mostly because of slavery. As you already know, historically, the North and the South of US were very different. The North went out of its way to abolish slavery, whereas the South was pro-slavery. This is what created many tensions, and later on, even more wars between these two sections.
