Agree

consent means to approve or agree, and Tom almost did that. You can also tell it means agree by the first word he says in the sentence: "No, no".

Question
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

Kate wanted to know what was in the letter and who it was from, but the voice teacher insisted it was confidential.

1. "whose it was, intimate" is incorrect because it obviously belongs to the teacher (unless she stole it).

3. "who was it from, clandestine" is incorrect because clandestine means "kept secret or done secretively, especially because illicit." I doubt a letter would be illicit, and if it was, the teacher would be smarter than to have it out in front of Kate.

4. "whose was it, undercover" is incorrect because I doubt that grammar is correct. Also, a letter cannot be undercover, and if it was, Kate's teacher would not have told it was undercover, otherwise it would no longer be undercover.

Answer:

B. The brand new Mercedes I won in a raffle is nice.

If you were to be in this situation where you won something of this value, most people would be elated and not as nonchalant as the person was in this sentence, only describing it as nice.
