In the system the sharecroppers and tenant farmers who didn't possess land obtained supplies on credit from the local merchants, the merchants and the landowner used to get money from cotton sale and then what ever was left went to the farmer. The system ended in 1940's when the poor farmers moved to urban areas. this credit system developed during the American Civil war as the southern farmers had little cash and it was a way to get credit before the planting season. How was President Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidency shaped by the Cold War?
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

The New Look was the name given to the national security policy of the United States during the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. It reflected Eisenhower's concern for balancing the Cold War military commitments of the United States with the nation's financial resources.

Eisenhower's main goals in office were to contain the spread of communism and reduce federal deficits. In 1953, he threatened to use nuclear weapons until China agreed to peace terms in the Korean War.

Hope that helps!

Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

Parliament, outraged by the Boston Tea Party and other blatant acts of destruction of British property, enacted the Coercive Acts, also known as the Intolerable Acts, in 1774. The Coercive Acts closed Boston to merchant shipping, established formal British military rule in Massachusetts, made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in America, and required colonists to quarter British troops. The colonists subsequently called the first Continental Congress to consider a united American resistance to the British. on July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence. Five years later, in October 1781, British General Charles Lord Cornwallis surrendered to American and French forces at Yorktown, Virginia, bringing to an end the last major battle of the Revolution. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris with Britain in 1783, the United States formally became a free and independent nation.
