Consider the given ordered pairs. We have to identify the function.

"A function is a relation and it is the set of ordered pairs that does not contain two pairs with the same first component".

Consider the first ordered pair,

A. (0,2),(4,2),(0,-4),(4,-2)

Since, these ordered pairs has '0' as the same first component in (0,2) and (0,-4). So, it is not a function.

Consider the second ordered pair,

B. (2,4),(3,9),(4,16),(5,25)

Since, these ordered pairs has all the different first component. So, this is a function.

Consider the third ordered pair,

C. (2,4),(-2,4),(3,9),(-2,-4)

Since, these ordered pairs has '-2' as the same first component in (-2,4) and (-2,-4). So, it is not a function.

Consider the fourth ordered pair,

D. (1,1),(2,3),(1,5),(4,7)

Since, these ordered pairs has '1' as the same first component in (1,1) and (1,5). So, it is not a function.

Therefore, the ordered pairs given in option B is a function.

So, Option B is the correct answer.

A function will not have repeating x values....all the x values have to be different. They can have repeating y values, just not the x ones.
So which list of ordered pairs has all different x values ?
The answer would be : B...because ur x values are (2,3,4,5)...all different values.

You're playing a game when you defend your village from an orc invasion there are three characters elf hobbit or human and five
34kurt

The probability that you'll be a magic elf is \frac{1}{15} or 6.66%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

Let A be the event of you choosing an elf.

The probability of an event is given by dividing the number of favorable outcomes by the total number of outcomes.

Here the number of favorable outcomes is 1 and the total number of outcomes is 3 i.e. elf, hobbit or human.

The probability of choosing an elf, P(A) = \frac{1}{3} .

Step 2:

Let B be the event of you choosing magic as your defense.

In this situation, the number of favorable outcomes is 1 and the total number of outcomes is 5 i.e. magic, sword, shield, slingshot, or umbrella.

The probability of choosing magic as your defense, P(B) = \frac{1}{5} .

Step 3:

The probability of both events A and B happening, we multiply the individual probabilities.

P(getting a magic elf) = (P(A))(P(B)) = (\frac{1}{3} )(\frac{1}{5} ) = \frac{1}{15} = 6.66\%.

Brass is made from a mixture of copper and other elements. a mixture that is 80% copper is combined with a mixture that is 60% c
algol [13]

The equation that can be used to find x, the amount of the 60% mixture used to create the 65% mixture is:

0.60*x + 0.80*(100 - x) = 0.65*(100).

<h3>Which equation we should use?</h3>

First, let's define two variables:

  • x = pounds of the 60% copper brass.
  • y = pounds of the 80% copper brass.

We know that we want to make 100 lb of 65% copper brass, then we must have that:

x + y = 100

And the percentage of copper before and after mixing must be the same, so we can write:

0.60*x + 0.80*y = 0.65*(x + y).

(where the percentages are written in decimal form).

Then we have a system of equations:

x + y = 100

0.60*x + 0.80*y = 0.65*(x + y).

To get a single equation, we can isolate the variable "y" on the first equation:

y = 100 - x

Now we replace that in the other equation:

0.60*x + 0.80*(100 - x) = 0.65*(100).

This is what we wanted to get, an equation that can be used to find x, the amount of the 60% mixture used to create the 65% mixture.

The first answer already given, what's the second answer (in the green box)
chubhunter [2.5K]

Solution:

Since the graph passes through the given points, (7, 20) & (-2, 11) are the solutions of the given equation <em>y = x + ?</em>.

⇒<em>(x, y)</em> = (7, 20); (-2, 11)

Substituting the variables with (7, 20),

20 = 7 + <em>?</em>

20 - 7 = <em>?</em>

<em>?</em> = 13

Similarly,

11 = -2 +  <em>?</em>

<em>?</em> = 13

∴ <em>y</em> = 13
