Comparing the DNA of two organisms can show how closely related two species are in terms of their evolutionary history (i.e. sharing a common ancestor). <span />
Communication between
nearby or even distant cells is critical for the survival of the species for multicellular
organisms. Communication between cells is beneficial. Even single celled
organisms like bacteria have an evolutionary benefit when they “talk” with each
other. Species that are more closely
related will have more comparable looking cellular communication systems that
explains how scientists might use the cellular communication systems to show
evolutionary relatedness between species.
