Answer:

 • Option A
 • Speed of plane is 240 km/h, speed of wind is 50 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

With the tail wind the total speed is the sum of the speeds of plane and wind.

When into wind the total speed is the difference of speeds of plane and wind.

The first equation is

 • (r + w)*6 = 1740

The second equation is

 • (r - w)*3 = 570

Simplify both equations and solve the system

 • r + w = 1740/6 ⇒ r + w = 290
 • r - w = 570/3 ⇒ r - w = 190

Solve by elimination, add up the equations

 • r + w + r - w = 290 + 190
 • 2r = 480
 • r = 240

Find the value of w

 • 240 + w = 290
 • w = 290 - 240
 • w = 50

Converting repeating decimals to a fraction
Goshia [24]

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

Let x equal the repeating decimal you are trying to convert to a fraction.

Step 2:

Examine the repeating decimal to find the repeating digit(s).

Step 3:

Place the repeating digit(s) to the left of the decimal point.

Step 4:

Place the repeating digit(s) to the right of the decimal point.

Step 5:

Using the two equations you found in step 3 and step 4, subtract the left sides of the two equations. Then, subtract the right sides of the two equations

As you subtract, just make sure that the difference is positive for both sides.

if the spinner is fair , it will land on green for 60 times , there are 24% chances for the spinner to land on purple ,For 1000 spins it will land 150 times on blue

What is Probability ?

Probability can be defined as the study to predict the likelihood of an event.

It has a range from 0 to 1.

Probability if the spinner is fair is 1/5 for each colour.

As it is spun 300 times

(1/5) * 300 = 60 times

So if the spinner is fair , it will land on green for 60 times.

(b) The probability of landing on purple theoretically is 60times , 20 % chances

but it can be seen from the data provided that for 300 spins , the spinner landed for 72 times

which is 24% , i.e. there are 24% chances for the spinner to land on purple.

(c)Theoretically blue has 20% chances 200 times , But it is seen in the data obtained that

for 300 spins the spinner is landing on blue for 45 times.

For 1000 spins it will land 1000*45/300 = 150 times.

a statistics professor finds that when he schedules an office hour at the 10:30a, time slot, an average of three students arrive
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

The probability that in a randomly selected office hour in the 10:30 am time slot exactly two students will arrive is 0.2241.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X = number of students arriving at the 10:30 AM time slot.

The average number of students arriving at the 10:30 AM time slot is, λ = 3.

A random variable representing the occurrence of events in a fixed interval of time is known as Poisson random variables. For example, the number of customers visiting the bank in an hour or the number of typographical error is a book every 10 pages.

The random variable X is also a Poisson random variable because it represents the fixed number of students arriving at the 10:30 AM time slot.

The random variable X follows a Poisson distribution with parameter λ = 3.

The probability mass function of X is given by:

P(X=x)=\frac{e^{-\lambda}\lambda^{x}}{x!};\ x=0,1,2,3...,\ \lambda>0

Compute the probability of X = 2 as follows:

P(X=2)=\frac{e^{-3}3^{2}}{2!}=\frac{0.0498\times 9}{2}=0.2241

Thus, the probability that in a randomly selected office hour in the 10:30 am time slot exactly two students will arrive is 0.2241.

Paws at play made a total of $1,234 grooming 22 dogs. Paws at play charges $43 to groom each small dog and $75 for each large do
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

The system of equation can be used for determine the number of small and the large dogs groomed are

x + y = 22

43x + 75y = 1234

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the number of small dogs groomed be x.

Let us assume that the number of lagre dogs groomed be y.

As given

Paws at play made a total of $1,234 grooming 22 dogs.

Than the equation becomes

x + y = 22

Paws at play charges $43 to groom each small dog and $75 for each large dog.

Than the equation becomes

43x + 75y = 1234

Therefore the system of equation can be used for determine the number of small and the large dogs groomed are

x + y = 22

43x + 75y = 1234
