A very low pH means high acidic water and the water will contain high concentration hydrogen ions [H^+].

pH scale helps us to measure the acidic or basic nature of a substance or water.

  • The range of pH scale is between 0 to 14,
  • a pH of 7 indicates the neutral solution or substance.
  • if the pH of the substance is low, that is less than 7, the substance is acidic.
  • also, if the pH of the substance is high, that is<em> </em>greater than 7,  the substance is alkaline.

In general, pH measures the relative amount of free hydrogen ion [H^+] and hydroxyl ions [OH^{-1}] present in a water.

  • If a water contains<em> high concentration of hydrogen</em> <em>ions</em> [H^+], then the water is acidic,
  • Also, if the water contains high concentration of hydroxyl ions [OH^{-1}] , then the water is basic.

Thus, a very low pH means high acidic water and the water will contain high concentration hydrogen ions [H^+].

How is energy involved in physical changes and in chemical changes?
GaryK [48]

During phase changes, energy changes are usually involved. For example, when solid dry ice vaporizes (physical change), carbon dioxide molecules absorb energy. Meanwhile, when liquid water becomes ice energy is released.

hope this helps :)

Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

Bowl will have maximum potential energy

Explanation:

It is the bowl that will have maximum potential energy.

It is because potential energy is high when both height and mass of the object is high.

Here in this case the bowl has maximum weight with maximum height except the tea cup but the potential weight of cup will not make much impact as its weight is very low.

To understand the relationships between the parameters that characterize a wave. It is of fundamental importance in many areas o
Monica [59]

Answer:

1) c.

2) a.)

Explanation:

1)

  • At any wave, if its waveform repeats itself every time interval T, it is said that the wave is periodic, with a period T, which is the time needed to complete an entire cycle. The other options refer at the way in the waves propagates (longitudinal or transversal) and to the type of waveform (sinusoidal), so the right answer is c).

2)

  • At any wave that propagates at a constant speed, there exists a fixed relationship between the velocity v, the frequency  f and the wavelength λ, as follows:

       v = \lambda * f   (1)

  • So in order to v keep constant, if the frequency is increased, the wavelength will decrease in the same proportion, so a) is the right answer.

A cannon ball is shot horizontally off a 37.0 m cliff and lands a distance of 18.5 m
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

vₓ = 6.73 m/s

Explanation:

  • Assuming no other external influences than gravity, in the horizontal direction (which we make to coincide with the x- axis) , speed is constant, so, applying the definition of average velocity, we can write the following equation:

       v_{x} = \frac{\Delta x}{\Delta t} (1)

  • Now, in the vertical direction (coincident with the y- axis) , as both movements are independent each other, initial velocity is zero, so we can write the following equation for the vertical displacement:

       \Delta h = \frac{1}{2} * g * t^{2} (2)

  • where Δh = -37.0 m , g = -9.8 m/s2
  • Solving (2) for t, we get:

       t = \sqrt{\frac{2*\Delta h}{g} } =\sqrt{\frac{2*37.0m}{9.8m/s2}} = 2.75 s (3)

  • Taking t₀ = 0, ⇒ Δt = t
  • Replacing (3) in (1), we get:

       v_{x} = \frac{\Delta x}{\Delta t} = \frac{x}{t}  = \frac{18.5m}{2.75s} = 6.73 m/s

  • As the horizontal velocity is constant, the initial horizontal velocity is just the average one, i.e., 6.73 m/s.
