There are 78 cookies in box C, 26 cookies in box B and 10 cookies in box A.

let the number of cookies in first box be represented mathematically as   B-16

the number of cookies in second box be represented as B

the number of cookies in third box be represented as 3B

Since there are 124 cookies we can make an equation  such that it becomes

B-16 +B +3B =124

Solving for B, we have

5B -16 =124

5B =124 +16

5B =130

B=130/5

B=26

Therefore Box A contains B-16 =26-16 =10 cookies

Box C contains 3B =3 X 26=78 cookies

It’s just the same as if there were no decimal point. but if there isn’t a number in the quotient on the left of the decimal like #15, then you just place a 0 and continue to the next dividend which is 50.

What is a possible value for the missing term of the geometric sequences?
Ganezh [65]
A(n)=ar^(n-1)  and we can find the rate upon using the ratio of two points...

50/1250=1250r^2/1250r^0

1/25=r^2

r=1/5  so

a(n)=1250(1/5)^1=250

...

You could have also found the geometric mean which is actually quite efficient too...

The geometric mean is equal to the product of a set of elements raised to the 1/n the power where n is the number of multiplicands...in this case:

gm=(1250*50)^(1/2)=250
