Bill's speed is constant after 5 seconds and 45 meters into the race.

Correct responses:

a. Bill's maximum speed is 8 m/s

b. 24 meters

c. 57 meters

<h3>Methods used to calculate speed and distance traveled</h3>

Given parameters are;

The distance of the race = 100 meter

Distance at which Bill reaches maximum speed = 45 meters

Speed Bill maintains after 5 seconds = The maximum speed

Time at which Bill is 85 meters from the starting line = 10 seconds after start

a. Required;

Bill's maximum speed in meters.

Solution:

Distance Bill runs at maximum speed, d = 85 m - 45 m = 40 m

Time at which Bill runs the 40 m at maximum speed, <em>t</em> = 10 s - 5 s = 5 s

Speed = \mathbf{\dfrac{Distance}{Time}}

Therefore;

  • Bill's \  maximum \ speed = \dfrac{40 \ m}{5 \ s} = \underline{8 \ m/s}

b. i. Required:

The distance Bill will run for 3 seconds at the maximum speed;

Solution:

Distance,<em> s</em> = Speed, <em>v</em> × Time, <em>t</em>

<em />

The distance traveled at maximum speed in 3 seconds is therefore;

Distance = 8 m/s × 3 s = 24 m

The distance Bill travels in 3 seconds at the maximum speed is 24 meters.

ii) The distance Bill travels at 8 seconds after start, is given as follows;

Distance traveled in the first 5 seconds = 45 meters

Distance traveled in the next 3 seconds = 24 meters

Therefore;

  • Bill's distance from the starting line 8 seconds after start is 45 meters + 25 meters = <u>69 meters</u>

c. Bill's distance 6.5 seconds after the start of the race is given as follows;

Distance traveled in the first 5 seconds = 45 meters

Distance traveled in the next 1.5 seconds = 1.5 s × 8 m/s = 12 meters

  • Bill's distance from the starting line 6.5 seconds after start of the race = 45 meters + 12 meters = <u>57 meters</u>

A warehouse worker moved 108 pallets in 4.5 hours. In minutes, what is the rate to move one pallet? The worker will be off the c
klasskru [66]

Number of pallets moved in 4.5 hours = 108

converting 4.5 hours in minutes we get,

4*60 + 0.5*60 = 240+30 = 270 minutes

So, 108 pallets were moved in = 270 minutes

1 pallet was moved in = \frac{270}{108}=2.5 minutes

As the tie will get over in 2 hours or 2*60 = 120 minutes, the number of pallets that can be moved will be = \frac{120}{2.5}= 48 pallets.

Hence, 48 pallets can be moved before quitting time.

MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

y=640-3x

Step-by-step explanation:

The total amount of ounces in the bucket is 640, and it decreases by 3 each minute. For example, if you plug in 3 for x into that equation (which would represent 3 minutes), you would lose 9 ounces of water, which makes sense in the terms of the equation.

Quaker Oatmeal is a very popular breakfast cereal. If Susan wrapped the entire container without any overlapping paper, what is
Ket [755]

263.76 cm is the minimum amount of paper she will need to wrap the entire container.

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

As we know that the equation for surface area of a cylinder,

Surface area of cylinder =  2\pi r^{2}+2 \pi r h

Where,

r - the radius of the cylinder. Here given diameter (D) as 6. So,

          r=\frac{D}{2}=\frac{6}{2}=3 \mathrm{cm}

h - the height of the cylinder (given as 11 cm). The value for pi = 3.14. Now, calculate the surface area of the cylinder as

                     A=2(3.14)(3)^{2}+2(3.14)(3)(11)

                            A = 56.52+ 207.24 = 263.76 cm
