Adolescence is the period between the beginning of puberty and adulthood and puberty is the phase where a child's physical and intimate characteristics start to mature.

Puberty occurs due to hormonal changes at a period of age in which child gets mature characteristics with respect to intimacy and physical development.

Puberty usually starts between age 7 and 13 in girls and 9 and 15 in boys. There are different characteristics of puberty for boys and girls.

Adolescence is the period between puberty and adulthood. It involves the physiological maturation in which person starts behaving like an adult.

Thus, the basic difference between adolescence and puberty is that puberty is the period of development of intimate and physical characters and adolescence is period between puberty and adulthood.
