Classify each pair of numbered angles. Drag and drop the descriptions into the boxes to correctly classify each pair of numbered

angles. Each description may be used more than once. Two lines intersect. The largest angle has the equation (3x minus 52) degrees to define it and the second to largest angle has the equation (2x plus 2) degrees to define it. A straight line with another line coming out of it at an angle. The largest angle has the equation (10x minus 20) degrees to define it and the smaller angle has the equation (6x plus 8) degrees to define it.

(i) Pairs of <em>neighboring</em> angles are <em>supplementary</em> and <em>opposite</em> angles have the <em>same</em> measure.

(ii) The two angles formed by a line coming out of another line are <em>supplementary</em>.

<h3>How to analyze pairs of angles</h3>

(i) When two <em>straight</em> lines pass through each other, then <em>two</em> pairs of <em>opposite</em> angles are constructed. A pair with angles of (3\cdot x + 52)^{\circ} and another pair with angles of (2\cdot x + 2)^{\circ}, each pair of angles with <em>different </em>measures are <em>supplementary</em>.\blacksquare

(ii) When a <em>straight</em> line comes out of another <em>straight</em> line, from a point distinct to any endpoint of the former, then we construct two <em>supplementary</em> angles. The <em>largest</em> angle has a value of (10\cdot x + 20)^{\circ}, whereas the <em>smaller</em> one has a value of (6\cdot x + 8)^{\circ}. \blacksquare

Which ordered pairs are solutions to the inequality y−2x≤−3?
My name is Ann [436]

we will proceed to resolve each case to determine the solution

we have

y-2x \leq -3

y\leq2x-3

we know that

If an ordered pair is the solution of the inequality, then it must satisfy the inequality.

<u>case a)</u> (5,-3)

Substitute the value of x and y in the inequality

-3\leq2*5-3

-3\leq7 -------> is true

so

The ordered pair (5,-3) is a solution

<u>case b)</u> (0,-2)

Substitute the value of x and y in the inequality

-2\leq2*0-3

-2\leq-3 -------> is False

so

The ordered pair (0,-2) is not a solution

<u>case c)</u> (-6,-3)

Substitute the value of x and y in the inequality

-3\leq2*-6-3

-3\leq-15 -------> is False

so

The ordered pair(-6,-3) is not a solution

<u>case d)</u> (1,-1)

Substitute the value of x and y in the inequality

-1\leq2*1-3

-1\leq-1 -------> is True

so

The ordered pair (1,-1) is a solution

<u>case e)</u> (7,12)

Substitute the value of x and y in the inequality

12\leq2*7-3

12\leq11 -------> is False

so

The ordered pair (7,12) is not a solution

Verify

using a graphing tool

see the attached figure

the solution is the shaded  area below the line

The points A and D lies on the shaded area, therefore the ordered pairs A and D are solution of the inequality

What is the equation of the line that passes through each pair of points in slope-intercept form?
Ivanshal [37]
First, you need to use the points to come up with a m (slope). To do this you must use the equation m= y2-y1/x2-x1. label the x in one pair of coordinates x1 and the y, y1. Then label the other x in the other pair of coordinates x2 and the y, y2. use the equation and figure the slope. Next, put the easiest coordinates into point-slope form. The equation you are to use is... y-y1=m(x-x1). Input the values and then distribute the m inside the parenthesis. Then you should be able to do the rest. The final product should be in slope-intercept form.
