The value of x in terms of l is

x= \sqrt{5l^2}

Data given;

Length = l

width = 2l

diagonal = x

assuming we cut a section across the diagonal, we would have a right angle triangle. we can solve the right angle triangle using Pythagoras Theorem.

Pythagoras Theorem

This formula is used to find the missing side of a right angle triangle where x is equal to it's longest side i.e the hypothenuse.

The square of the hypothenuse is equal to the sum of the square of it's two sides.

substituting the values

x^2 = l^2 + (2l)^2\\x^2 = l2 + 4l^2\\x^2 = 5l^2\\\\x = \sqrt{5l^2}

From the calculation above, we have x in terms of l as

x= \sqrt{5l^2}

There are many toys in a kindergarten. The ratio of the number of dolls to the number of balls to the number of cars is 7:8:5. I
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

There are 28 dolls, 32 balls, 20 cars for 80 total toys

Step-by-step explanation:

dolls : balls: cars: total

7           8          5    (7+8+5)

7           8           5        20

We have a total of 80

80/20 = 4

We need to multiply each number by 4

dolls : balls: cars: total

7*4     8*4     5*4      20*4

28       32      20       80

There are 28 dolls, 32 balls, 20 cars for 80 total toys

George is solving the equation below by finding successive approximations. He started from a graph where he found the solution t
skelet666 [1.2K]

The mistake made by George is; D:George should have averaged the two differences instead of the two bounds.

How to Solve Successive Approximations?

In Mathematics, successive approximation can be defined as a classical method that is used in Calculus for solving integral equations or initial value problems.

In this question, George started the first iteration of successive approximation by using the lower and upper bounds of the graph. However, we can deduce that George made a mistake instep 5 because he should have used x = 3/2 as the new upper bound.

The cities D, E, and F lie, in respective order, approximately in a straight line. The distance from city D to city E is 125 mil
mamaluj [8]

Answer:

  35 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

The segment addition theorem tells you ...

  DE + EF = DF

  125 + EF = 160

  EF = 35 . . . . . . . subtract 125

The distance from E to F is about 35 miles.
