This question can be solved using an Algebraic equation.

The system of equations is given as:

x + y ≤ 10

8x + 16y ≥ 96

Let's represent

x = number of hours he walks the dogs

y = number of hours he works as a maths tutor

John must work for no more than 8 hours walking the dog and 2 hours as a Maths tutor to earn at least $96.

Our system of equations is given as:

He wants to work no more than 10 hours.

No more is represented by the inequality "≤ " = Less than or equal to

x + y ≤ 10 ...........Equation 1

He also wants to earn at least 96.

At least is represented by the inequality" ≥" = Greater than or equal to

$8 × x + $16 × y  ≥ 96

8x + 16y ≥ 96........Equation 2

Solving for the number of hours

x + y = 10

x = 10 - y

Substitute 10 - y for x in Equation 2

8(10 - y) + 16y = 96

80 - 8y + 16y = 96

Collect like terms

8y = 96 - 80

8y = 16

Divide both sides by 8

8y/8 = 16/8

y = 2 hours

Solving for x

x = 10 - y

x = 10 - 2

x = 8 hours

Therefore, John must work for no more than 8 hours walking the dog and 2 hours as a Maths tutor to earn at least $96.

Which best describes the relationship between the successive terms in the sequence shown?
Alex Ar [27]

Given series is 2.4,-4.8,9.6,-19.2

To find whether it has common difference or common ratio let us find few differences and few ratios of consecutive terms.

Common difference of first 2 terms = 2nd term - first term = -4.8-2.4 = -7.2

Common difference of 2nd and 3rd terms = 3rd term - 2nd term = 9.6-(-4.8) = 14.4

Since those common differences are not equal the given series does not have common difference at all.

To check if it has common ratio or not let us find few ratios of consecutive terms.

Common ratio of first 2 terms = \frac{2nd term}{first term} = \frac{-4.8}{2.4} = -2

Common ratio of 2nd and 3rd terms = \frac{3rd term}{2nd term} = \frac{9.6}{-4.8} = -2.0

So, the given series has common ratio as -2.0

What is the equation, in standard form, of a circle with center (−5, −9) and radius 7?
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

Solution given:

Centre(h,k)=(-5,-9)

radius (r)=7

we have

Equation of a circle is;

(x-h)²+(y-k)²=r²

Substituting value;

(x+5)²+(y+9)²=7²

<u>(x+5)²+(y-9)²=49 is a required equation of a circle</u>.

A stadium has 50,000 seats. Seats in section A cost $30, seats in section B cost $24, and seats in section C cost $18. the numbe
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

Section A = 25,000 seats

Section B = 14,600 seats

Section C = 10,400 seats

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Seats = 50,000

Seats in Section A cost = $30

Seats in Section B cost = $24

Seats in Section C cost = $18

Total sales from the event = $1,287,600

No. of Seats in section A = No. seats in Section B + No. seats in Section C

A = B + C

or, 2A = 50,000

A = 25,000 seats @ $30/seat = $750,000

B + C = 25,000

24B + 18C = 537,600

24B + 18(25,000 - B) = 537,600

24B + 450,000 - 18B = 537,600

6B = 87600

B = 14,600

C = 10,400

Hence;

A = 25,000 seats

B = 14,600 seats

C = 10,400 seats
