A new anxiety medication has been manufactured and a study is being conducted to determine whether its effectiveness depends on

dose. When 40 milligrams of the medication was administered to a simple random sample (SRS) of 60 patients, 21 of them demonstrated lower stress levels. When 75 milligrams of the medication was administrated to another SRS of 85 patients, 34 of them demonstrated lower stress levels. Which of the following test statistics is an appropriate hypothesis test?

The test statistics is used to determine if the anxiety medication can happen under a null hypothesis

The test statistics that is an appropriate hypothesis test is z =\frac{0.35 - 0.40}{\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1 - 0.35)}{60} + \frac{0.40(1 - 0.40)}{85}}}

<h3>How to determine the test statistic</h3>

<u>40 milligrams of medication</u>

Patients = 60

Lower stress level patients = 21

The mean of this medication is:

\bar x = \frac{x}{n}

So, we have:

\bar x_1 = \frac{21}{60}

\bar x_1 = 0.35

<u>75 milligrams of medication</u>

Patients = 85

Lower stress level patients = 34

The mean of this medication is:

\bar x = \frac{x}{n}

So, we have:

\bar x_2 = \frac{34}{85}

\bar x_2 =0.4

The test statistic is then calculated as:

z =\frac{\bar x_1 - \bar x_2}{\sqrt{\frac{\bar x_1(1 - \bar x_1)}{n_1} + \frac{\bar x_2(1 - \bar x_2)}{n_2}}}

The equation becomes

z =\frac{0.35 - 0.40}{\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1 - 0.35)}{60} + \frac{0.40(1 - 0.40)}{85}}}

Hence, the test statistics that is an appropriate hypothesis test is z =\frac{0.35 - 0.40}{\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1 - 0.35)}{60} + \frac{0.40(1 - 0.40)}{85}}}

Below is similar question:

<span>48 out of 100 private buses usually run on time. Out of the buses that are on time, only 36 are owned by Jerry. Out of the remaining 52 buses that usually run late, only 7 are owned by Jerry. What is the probability that a bus is owned by Jerry, given that it runs on time?
 A. 0.58
B. 0.67
C. 0.75
D. 0.81

I need help with this Maths Homework Question.
Monica [59]

Answer:

1. 41/45.

2. x/(x^2+3x+6)

Step-by-step explanation:

1.

So first we fill the ven diagram.

There are 240 in band, so we fill that. 60 students are in both, we put that in the middle, and there are 110 people in choir.

now, since we want the probability that a student is chosen that is in band, and choir, and both. We add all this up

240 + 60 + 110 = 410.

The total possible outcome is 410, and the total outcome is 450, so the answer is

410/450 = 41/45

2.

First, to get the total outcomes, we have to add all the expressions together.

x(x-2) + x + 2x+8 = x^2 - 2 + x + 2x + 8 = x^2 - 2 + 3x + 8 = x^2 + 3x + 6.

Since that is the total outcome, we have to find the possible outcomes.

The problem wants BOTH from the 20th century and British, so it is x.

x/(x^2+3x+6). We cannot simplify any further, thus x/(x^2+3x+6) is our answer

Vector u has a magnitude of 7 units and a direction angle of 330°. Vector v has magnitude of 8 units and a direction angle of 30
Dafna11 [192]
Keeping in mind that x = rcos(θ) and y = rsin(θ).

we know the magnitude "r" of U and V, as well as their angle θ, so let's get them in standard position form.

\bf u=&#10;\begin{cases}&#10;x=7cos(330^o)\\&#10;\qquad 7\cdot \frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\\&#10;\qquad \frac{7\sqrt{3}}{2}\\&#10;y=7sin(330^o)\\&#10;\qquad 7\cdot -\frac{1}{2}\\&#10;\qquad -\frac{7}{2}&#10;\end{cases}\qquad \qquad v=&#10;\begin{cases}&#10;x=8cos(30^o)\\&#10;\qquad 8\cdot \frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\\&#10;\qquad \frac{8\sqrt{3}}{2}\\&#10;y=8sin(30^o)\\&#10;\qquad 8\cdot \frac{1}{2}\\&#10;\qquad 4&#10;\end{cases}

\bf u+v\implies \left( \frac{7\sqrt{3}}{2},-\frac{7}{2} \right)+\left( \frac{8\sqrt{3}}{2},4 \right)\implies \left( \frac{7\sqrt{3}}{2}+\frac{8\sqrt{3}}{2}~~,~~ -\frac{7}{2}+4\right)&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\left(\stackrel{a}{\frac{15\sqrt{3}}{2}}~~,~~  \stackrel{b}{\frac{1}{2}}\right)\\\\&#10;-------------------------------

\bf tan(\theta )=\cfrac{b}{a}\implies tan(\theta )=\cfrac{\frac{1}{2}}{\frac{15\sqrt{3}}{2}}\implies tan(\theta )=\cfrac{1}{15\sqrt{3}}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\measuredangle \theta =tan^{-1}\left( \cfrac{1}{15\sqrt{3}} \right)\implies \measuredangle \theta \approx 2.20422750397203^o
