Answer:the nucleus

Explanation:mRNA is synthesized in the nucleus using the nucleotide sequence of DNA as a template. This process requires nucleotide triphosphates as substrates and is catalyzed by the enzyme RNA polymerase II. The process of making mRNA from DNA is called transcription, and it occurs in the nucleus

What would be the most likely effect on the transcription of the trp structural genes for the mutation scenarios provided? mutat
blagie [28]

Answer:

I've responded to each scenario individually, please see below:

1. mutation that prevents ribosome binding to the mRNA

No transcription occurs

2. 5' UTR mutation that changes region 1 tryptophan codons into alanine codons

Transcription when alanine is low

3. mutation that creates a stop codon in region 1 of mRNA 5' UTR

Transcription occurs, a truncated protein will be made during translation

4. deletions in region 2 of the mRNA 5' UTR

Transcription occurs, region 1 and 2 might get paired together

5. deletions in region 3 of the mRNA 5' UTR

Transcription occurs, region 3 and 4 could combine to form a hairpin loop structure

6. deletions in region 4 of the mRNA 5' UTR

Transcription occurs, region 3 and 4 could combine to form a hairpin loop structure

7. deletion of the string of adenine after region 4 of the mRNA 5' UTR

Transcription occurs, however, it will not be as stable a molecule because of losing its polyA tail

Describe in words what occurs during the process represented by the photosynthesis equation. Include the importance of sunlight
8_murik_8 [283]

Photosynthesis usually takes place in the leaves. Leaf cells contain many chloroplasts (up to 50 per cell). These organelles contain a green pigment, chlorophyll, capable of capturing light energy. This energy is used to make sugar molecules from water drawn from the soil by the roots and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, captured by the leaves. The sugars produced subsequently distributed in the different parts of the plant.

Here is the reaction of photosynthesis:

6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light energy ==> C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2

But this balance is in fact broken down into two successive stages:

photochemical reactions (clear phase):

12 H2O + light ==> 6 O2 + chemical energy;

the Calvin cycle (dark phase):

6 CO2 + chemical energy ==> C6H12O6 + 6 H2O.

The first phase of photosynthesis, called clear phase, requires the illumination of the leaf. Chlorophyll, which is embedded in the thylakoid membrane, absorbs light energy. This energy absorption is accompanied by the degradation of water molecules and the release of oxygen.

In a second phase independent of light, called the dark phase, the energy absorbed by chlorophyll is used for the transformation of carbon dioxide molecules into sugar molecules.

The sugars made by photosynthesis are stored in the cell as starch, transformed into other organic molecules, such as proteins, or degraded in the mitochondria during respiration to meet the energy needs of the plant.

Many scientists believe horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a significant source of genetic variation. Why
lawyer [7]

In prokaryotes, horizontal gene transfer (HGT), the transfer of genetic material from one organism to another organism within the same generation, is an important way to promote genetic diversity. HGT allows even distantly related species to share genes, influencing their phenotypes.

Transformation: Mode of genetic transfer in which “bare DNA” is taken up from the environment is taken up by cells

Transduction: Mode of genetic transfer in which genes are transferred by a bacteriophage to a bacterial cell

Conjugation: Mode of genetic transfer in which two cells must come in contact and genetic material is transferred to a recipient cell from a donor cell through its pili
