Putting the considered items in order from most expensive to least expensive item gives the order as shown by: Option b. Blender, ink, hat, heater

<h3>What is Markup and Markdown?</h3>

Markup is the amount that will be increased in the original price of the considered thing.

Markdown is the amount that will be decreased from the original price of the considered thing.

Think of "up" and "down" as increasing and decreasing prices respectively.

<h3>How to find the percentage from the total value?</h3>

Suppose the value of which a thing is expressed in percentage is "a'

Suppose the percent that considered thing is of "a" is b%

Then since percent shows per 100 (since cent means 100), thus we will first divide the whole part in 100 parts and then we multiply it with b so that we collect b items per 100 items(that is exactly what b per cent means).

Thus, that thing in number is

\dfrac{a}{100} \times b

For this case, the base prices and the chage in price is given as:

Item                Base Price                    Change Direction

Blender            $29.73                           9% Markdown

Hat                   $14.16                             77% Markup

Ink                    $20.17                            27% Markup

Heater             $28.46                           22% Markdown

Calculating the resultant price:

  • Case 1: Blender:

Resultant price = 29.73 - 9% of 29.73

P= 29.73 - \dfrac{29.73}{100}\times 9\\\\P = 27.0543 \: \: \text{dollars}

  • Case 2: Hat:

Resultant price = 14.16 + 77% of 14.16

P= 14.16+\dfrac{14.16}{100}\times 77\\\\P = 25.0632\: \: \text{dollars}

  • Case 3: Ink:

Resultant price = 20.17 + 27% of 20.17

P= 20.17+\dfrac{20.17}{100}\times 27\\\\P = 25.6159\: \: \text{dollars}

  • Case 4: Heater:

Resultant price = 28.46 - 22% of 28.46

P= 28.46- \dfrac{28.46}{100}\times 22\\\\P = 25.0448 \: \: \text{dollars}

Thus, putting the considered items in order from most expensive to least expensive item gives the order as shown by: Option b. Blender, ink, hat, heater

PROBLEM: Juan hires an electrician. Juan pays a one-time fee of $30. Juan also pays $45 for each hour the electrician works. A.
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

A: C=45h+30

B: C=$322.50

Step-by-step explanation:

A: We'll start with the equation for the total charge. Juan is saying he will pay a one time fee of $30, meaning there is 30 dollars added to what ever the hourly wage is. This can be represented by the +30. Now if "h" represents the variable for which the hourly wage will be calculated, and he pays $45 dollars per hour this will be represented as 45h. <em>As an example if I pay you 2 dollars per hour using the same variable "h", this would be represented as 2h. So if you worked for two hours you would get 4 dollars, this is proven by the fact the 2(2) (remeber im replacing the "h" with the hours you worked) obviously 2 times 2 is 4 proving my point. </em>This information will give you the equation you see above.

B: Onto solving for how much Juan will pay. Now you say youre supposed to have 9 answer but this can't be true. All you need to do is plug the hours given into "h" and solve the equation. It should look something like:

<u>C=45h+30</u>

<u>C=45(6.5)+30</u>

Im using a decimal because it should be clear 1/2=0.5

<u>C= 292.5+30</u>

45x6.5 always go with PEMDAS, we are multiplying first. Then add 292.5 plus 30

This results in the answer of:

<u>C=$322.50</u>
