Based on data from two very large independent samples, two students tested a hypothesis about equality of population means using

α = 0. 2. One student used a one-tail test and rejected the null hypothesis, but the other used a two-tail test and failed to reject the null. Which of these might have been their calculated value of t?

Based on the calculations, the most likely value of t is equal to 2.2.

<u>Given the following data:</u>

  • \alpha =0.2

<h3>What is a null hypothesis?</h3>

A null hypothesis (H_0) can be defined the opposite of an alternate hypothesis (H_a) and it asserts that two (2) possibilities are the same.

For the one-tail test, we would reject the null hypothesis (H_0) when the p-value is lesser than the value of \alpha;

H_o: P(Z > |\delta|) < 0.02

For the two-tail test, we would fail to reject the null hypothesis (H_0) when the p-value is greater than the value of \alpha;

H_o: 2P(Z > |z|) > 0.02\\\\H_o: P(Z > |z|) > 0.01

Next, we would determine the positive value of z-score that satisfies this expression;

0.01 < P(Z < z) < 0.02\\\\

From the z-table, we have:

P(Z > 2.326)\;and\; P(Z > 2.054)\\\\2.054 < z < 2.326

Therefore, t = 2.2.

∠B = 77°, a = 7.42 and b = 12.61

Solution:

Given triangle ABC.

∠A = 35°, ∠C = 68°, c = 12

To find the measure of ∠B:

Sum of all the angles of the triangle = 180°

⇒ ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

⇒ 35° + ∠B + 68° = 180°

⇒ 103° + ∠B = 180°

⇒ ∠B = 180° – 103°

⇒ ∠B = 77°

To find the length of a and b:

The side opposite to angle A is a.

The side opposite to angle B is b.

Using law of sine,

$\frac{\sin C}{c}=\frac{\sin A}{a}

$\frac{\sin 68^\circ}{12}=\frac{\sin 35^\circ}{a}

$\frac{0.9271}{12}=\frac{0.57357}{a}

Do cross multiplication, we get

$0.9271a=6.88284

Divide by 0.9271 on both sides, we get

⇒ a = 7.42

Again by law of sine,

$\frac{\sin C}{c}=\frac{\sin B}{b}

$\frac{\sin 68^\circ}{12}=\frac{\sin 77^\circ}{b}

$\frac{0.9271}{12}=\frac{0.9744}{b}

Do cross multiplication, we get

$0.9271b=11.6928

Divide by 0.9271 on both sides, we get

⇒ b = 12.61

Hence ∠B = 77°, a = 7.42 and b = 12.61.

Find the value of x and the perimeter of the following shapes:
ratelena [41]

Answer:

x=2, perimeter=14

Step-by-step explanation:

Finding x

(x+1)(x+2)

x^2+2x+x+2=12

x^2+3x-10

x^2-2x+5x-10

x(x-2)5(x-2)

(x+5)(x-2)

x=-5

x=2

Length or Width should be a positve number.

x=2

Perimeter:

3+3+4+4=14
