Step-by-step explanation:

I am not sure I understand what we need to do here.

if I take this literally, then this is a table that you need to fill with the results of the experiments (how many marbles of what color were picked).

so, there would be nothing to calculate, just to do the experiments and document the results. the table would have different numbers for everybody. like when rolling some dice and recording the results.

therefore, there would be no right or wrong answer.

if you think there is a right answer, then this is a different type of question or request, which is NOT described here.

I could imagine that the question is how many marbles of what color do we EXPECT to see in the experiments of 12 and 8 pulled balls. THIS is something we CAN calculate, and where there is a right answer.

so, is that the request here ?

just in case I will give you the answer to that assumed question :

if I understand the given information correctly, then in total we have 28+14+7+35 = 84 marbles.

28 of them are orange, 14 purple, 7 black and 35 white.

that means the fraction of marbles representing orange is

28/84 = 1/3

the fraction of marbles representing purple is

14/84 = 1/6

the fraction of marbles representing black is

7/84 = 1/12

and the fraction of marbles representing white is

35/84 = 5/12

as the expected result per color in the experiments we would expect to see the same ratio (the same structure of fractions) as with the total numbers. similar to rolling a die and expecting to see each number to appear the same amount of times.

that means, when pulling 12 marbles randomly, we would expect to get

1/3 × 12 = 4 orange marbles

1/6 × 12 = 2 purple marbles

1/12 × 12 = 1 black marble

5/12 × 12 = 5 white marbles

now, when pulling only 8 marbles, what do we expect to get ?

1/3 × 8 = 8/3 marbles ≈ (rounded) 3 orange marbles

1/6 × 8 = 8/6 = 4/3 marbles ≈ 1 purple marble

1/12 × 8 = 8/12 = 2/3 ≈ 1 black marble

5/12 × 8 = 40/12 = 10/3 ≈ 3 white marbles

Taivon is training for a duathlon, which is a race that consists of running and cycling. The cycling leg is longer than the runn
Zina [86]

Answer:

A. Taivon runs 0,285 miles for every mile he rides his bike.

B. Yes

C. No

Step-by-step explanation:

So, Taivon is running 4 miles for every 14 miles he rides his bike. We can identify a ratio of 4:14. However, both numbers have a common multiple and can be reduced to 2:7; saying that taivon runs 4 miles for every 14 miles he rides his bike is the same to say he runs 2 miles for every 7 miles he rides his bike. To find the value of this ratio, we simply divide 2 miles that Taivon runs between 7 miles he rides his bike. The value of the ratio of miles he runs for miles he rides his bike is 0,285.

Once Taivon finished his training the ratio between the of total number of miles he ran to total number of miles he cycled was 80: 280. This is consistent with his training schedule, because if we divide 80 between 280, we obtain the same value of ratio previously calculated: 0,285. This means also that the total number of miles he ran and the miles he runs on one session are multiples; the same applies for the total number of miles he rode and the miles he rides on one session. If we divide 80 between 4, we obtain 20. Furthermore, if we multiply 20 times 14, we obtain 280.  We can conclude then that Taivon trained 20 days in preparation to the Duathlon.

In one training session, Taivon ran 4 miles and cycled 7 miles. The ratio of the distance he ran to the distance he cycled in this session changes and for this session is 0,571. This training session does not represent an equivalent ratio of the distance he ran to the distance he cycled, since he actually fell short in the cycling by 7 miles to his usual 14 miles riding the bike.

Which point is on the line that passes through point Z and is perpendicular to line AB? (–4, 1) (1, –2 ) (2, 0) (4, 4)
AlladinOne [14]

For this case we have that if the line that passes through point z is perpendicular to line AB, it is fulfilled that:

m * m_ {AB} = - 1

We find the slope of AB:

m_ {AB} = \frac {y2-y1} {x2-x1}

We choose the points that go through AB:

(-2.4)

(0, -4)

m_ {AB} = \frac {-4-4} {0 - (- 2)}\\m_ {AB} = \frac {-8} {2}\\m_ {AB} = - 4

So:

m * -4 = -1\\m = \frac {1} {4}

On the other hand, the point z is (0,2).

Then the cut point with the "y" axis is 2.

The equation of the line is:

y = \frac {1} {4} x + 2

We test the points:

(-4,1)

1 = \frac {1} {4} (- 4) +2\\1 = -1 + 2\\1 = 1

Is fulfilled

(1, -2)

-2 = \frac {1} {4} (1) +2\\-2 = \frac {1} {4} +2

It is not true

(2,0)

0 = \frac {1} {4} (2) +2

It is not true

(4,4)

4 = \frac {1} {4} (4) +2\\4 = 1 + 2

It is not true
