While mining, Keith found a large metal bar that weighed 42 ounces. Keith was also able to determine that the bar had 30 ounces
Usimov [2.4K]
Divide the silver present in the bar by the total weight of the bar to find the percentage of silver in the bar.

30 / 42 = 0.7142

Multiply this decimal by 100 for the percentage.

.7142 * 100 = 71.42

Rounded to the nearest tenth, 71.4% of the weight of the bar is silver.

Find the length of ST. St= 5x+2 and TV = 3x+12 <br> Thank you for anyone who does answer(:
valentina_108 [34]
I think you forgot to include that T is the midpoint of SV, but what this would mean is that ST = TV.
5x + 2 = 3x + 12

Subtract 2 from both sides.
5x = 3x + 10

Subtract 3x from both sides.
2x = 10

Divide both sides by 2.
x = 5

Now plug that x into ST.
ST = 5(5) + 2
ST = 25 + 2
ST = 27

Sally is three times as old as Sam. The sum of their ages is 84. How old is Sally?
Pepsi [2]

Answer:

Sally is 63

Step-by-step explanation:

Represent Sally's age by x and Sam's by  y.

Then x = 3y and x + y = 84.

Substituting 3y for x in the second equation, we get:

3y + y = 84, or 4y = 84, or y = 21.  Since Sally is 3 times as old as Sam, we multiply 21 by 3:  Sally's age is 3(21 years) = 63 years
