Answer:

63.5 in

Step-by-step explanation:

For this problem we are going to split this big scary shape into smaller safer shapes.

Triangle.

On this one you need to add the end of the rectangle to the remaing height on the triangle for 5. Then take the height=5 and the width=7, and plug them into the formula for the area of a traingle which is hxw/2

5x7/2=17.5

The area of the triangle is 17.5 in

Long Rectangle.

On this one all you have to do is take the height=2 and the length=11, and multiply them together as that is the formula for the area of a rectangle.

2x11=22

Other Rectangle.

Again just do the same as the last one but instad with the height as 4 and the length as 6.

4x6=24

Total.

Then just add all those together for the total area!

17.5+22+24=63.5

63.5 in is the total area of this shape!

Kruka [31]

let x = orginal price of the shorts

$21 = x(100%-20%) * 1.05

$21 = x(80%) * 1.05

$21 = 0.8x * 1.05

Subtract 1.05 from both sides

$19.95 = 0.8x

Divide 0.8 from both sides

$24.9375 = x

So the orginal price of the shorts are about $24.94

A small square pyramid of height 6 cm was removed from the top of a large square pyramid of height 12cm forming the solid shown.
Semmy [17]

Answer:

15,872 mm³

Step-by-step explanation:

given:

A small square pyramid of height 6 cm was removed from the top of a large square pyramid of height 12cm forming the solid shown.

Find:

the exact volume of the solid

solution:

volume of square base pyramid = (base area)² * h/3

where total h = 12 cm

height of top pyramid (ht)= 6 cm

height of bottom pyramid (hb) = 6 cm

bottom volume =  total volume - the volume on top

so,

total volume = 1/3 (base area)² h

                     = 1/3 (8*8)² * 12

                     = 16,384 mm³

volume on top = 1/3 (top base area)² h

                         = 1/3 (4*4)² * 6

                         = 512 mm³

finally: get the bottom volume:

bottom volume =  total volume - the volume on top

bot. vol = 16,384 mm³ - 512 mm³

             = 15,872 mm³

therefore,

the volume of the cut  pyramid base = 15,872 mm³
