The reason behind the use of ferrocene in the experiment is because it reacts much faster than benzene.

<h3>What is ferrocene?</h3>

Ferrocene is an organometallic compound which consist of two cyclopentadienyl rings bound to a central atom of iron.

The aromatic cyclopentadienyl rings in ferrocene have a lot of electrons and go through a lot of the same reactions as benzene.

In fact, most metallocenes are more electrophilic reagent reactive than benzene, indicating that electrons are more readily available.

Thus, the reason behind the use of ferrocene in the experiment is because it reacts much faster than benzene.

If the decomposition of a sample of KClO3 produces 3.29 g of O2 , what was the mass (g) of the original sample?
zalisa [80]

Answer: Thus 8.41 g was the mass of the original sample

Explanation:

To calculate the moles :

\text{Moles of solute}=\frac{\text{given mass}}{\text{Molar Mass}}

\text{Moles of} O_2=\frac{3.29g}{32g/mol}=0.103moles

2KClO_3\rightarrow 2KCl+3O_2

According to stoichiometry :

As 3 moles of O_2 are produced by = 2 moles of KClO_3

Thus 0.103 moles of O_2 are produced by =\frac{2}{3}\times 0.103=0.0687moles  of KClO_3

Mass of KClO_3=moles\times {\text {Molar mass}}=0.0687moles\times 122.5g/mol=8.41g

Thus 8.41 g was the mass of the original sample.

Balance the combustion reaction between propane and oxygen. If a coefficient of "1" is required, choose "blank" for that box.
alex41 [277]

The combustion reaction between propane and oxygen is C3H8 + 5O2 → 3CO2 + 4H2O. The key in the balancing of chemical reaction is to make sure that you got the exact chemical formula of the substance that is reacting and the yielded product. After getting the formula, identify first the hardest element/atom to be balanced such as Na, Zn, Cl, etc. Then proceed to the easier ones such as O, H. Make sure to not the atoms present in the molecule of the substance.
