The Fall Festival charges $0.75 per ticket for the rides. Kendall bought 18 tickets for rides and spent a total of $33.50 at the

festival. She only spent her money on ride tickets and admission into the festival. The price of admission is the same for everyone. Use y to represent the total cost and x to represent the number of ride tickets.
(a) Define your variables.
(b) Write a linear equation to calculate the cost for anyone who only pays for festival admission and rides

Step-by-step explanation:

The Fall Festival charges $0.75 per ticket for the rides. Kendall bought 18 tickets for rides and spent a total of $33.50 at the festival

0.75 per ticket. So cost of 18 tickets= 0.75 * 18 = $13.5

Kendall spent $13.50 for tickets . Total spent = $33.50

Total spent = ticket cost + admission cost

33.50 = 13.50 + admission

Admission cost = 33.50 - 13.50 = $20

(a)  y to represent the total cost , x to represent the number of ride tickets.

'b' represents the admission cost

(b)  General form of linear equation is y=mx+b

m = 0.75 and b = admission cost = 20

So equation becomes y = 0.75x + 20

(c) Initially, she has to pay the admission price $20. then 0.75 per ticket.

The value of x changes depends on the number of tickets she wants to buy.

y is the total cost she has to pay for x tickets with admission price

Gala2k [10]

Answer:

50,000 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

First,

If C is the annual operating cost, you can modify/substitute into the equation,

21,100 = 0.37m + 2600

Second, solve the equation for m,

0.37m = 18,500

m = 50,000

Hope this helps!!

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

This is an geometric series.

Common ratio = second number÷ first number

                       = \dfrac{4096}{-1024} = -4

To get the next number, 256 should be divide by (-4)

\dfrac{256}{(-4)}= -64 \\\\\\\dfrac{-64}{-4}=16\\\\\\\dfrac{16}{-4}=-4

The three numbers are : -64 , 16 , -4

hammer [34]

Answer:

The test statistic is z=2.5.

The null hypothesis is rejected.

There is enough evidence to support the claim that more than 10% of the 16 ounce cups are underfilled.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a hypothesis test for a proportion.

The claim is that more than 10% of the 16 ounce cups are underfilled.

Then, the null and alternative hypothesis are:

H_0: \pi=0.1\\\\H_a:\pi>0.1

The significance level is assumed to be 0.05.

The sample has a size n=100.

The sample proportion is p=0.18.

p=X/n=18/100=0.18

The standard error of the proportion is:

\sigma_p=\sqrt{\dfrac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}=\sqrt{\dfrac{0.1*0.9}{100}}\\\\\\ \sigma_p=\sqrt{0.001}=0.03

Then, we can calculate the z-statistic as:

z=\dfrac{p-\pi-0.5/n}{\sigma_p}=\dfrac{0.18-0.1-0.5/100}{0.03}=\dfrac{0.075}{0.03}=2.5

This test is a right-tailed test, so the P-value for this test is calculated as:

P-value=P(z>2.5)=0.006

As the P-value (0.006) is smaller than the significance level (0.05), the effect is  significant.

The null hypothesis is rejected.

There is enough evidence to support the claim that more than 10% of the 16 ounce cups are underfilled.

A tree in leilas backyard has been growing for 3 1/5 years. It is 3/4 meters tall how many meters per year?
IgorC [24]

Answer:

The tree grew 15/64 meters per year.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

  • Length of a tree = 3/4 meters
  • Total time taken by the tree to grow 3/4 taller = 3 1/5 or 16/5 years

To determine

Per year growth of the tree in meters

Per year growth of the tree in meters can be determined by dividing the total length of a tree i.e. 3/4 meters by the total time taken by the tree to get 3/4 taller.

Per year growth of tree = Total Length  / Total time to grow

                                       = 3/4 ÷ 16/5

                                        = 3/4 × 5/16

                                        = [3×5] / [4×16]

                                        = 15/64 meters

Therefore, the tree grew 15/64 meters per year.
