The probability of picking a golfball then a basketball is 7/200

The probability of picking two baseballs is 3/20.

The probability of picking a baseball then a football is 1/12.

The probability of picking two footballs is 1/30

<h3>What is the probability?</h3>

Probability is used to calculate the likelihood of an event happening. The odds the event occurs is 1 and the probability that the event does not occur is 0.

The probability of picking a golfball then a basketball = 7/25 x 3/24 = 7/200

The probability of picking two baseballs = 10/25 x 9/24 =18/120 = 3/20

The probability of picking a baseball then a football = 10/25 x 5/24 = 1/12

The probability of picking two footballs = 5/25 x 4/24 = 1/30

Since x=8y, subsitute 8y for x in other equation

y=6x-11
y=6(8y)-11
y=48y-11
minus y both sides
0=47y-11
add 11 to both sides
11=47y
divide both sides by 47
\frac{11}{47}=y
subsitute taht for y to find x

x=8y
x=8(\frac{11}{47})
x=\frac{88}{47}

x=\frac{88}{47}
y=\frac{11}{47}
in (x,y) form
(x,y)
(\frac{88}{47},\frac{11}{47})

₇P₅ is a permutation. you can find this setting in the statistics menu of your scientific calculator (i think).

If you don't have a scientific calculator, you can use the following formula:

nPr = \frac{n!}{(n - r)!}

₇P₅  = \frac{7!}{(7 - 5)!}

     = \frac{7}{2!}

     = \frac{7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2!}{2!}

     = 7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3

    = 2520

The wind blew away 24 of your muffins. That was 3/4 of them! How many are left?
forsale [732]
Set up a proportion:

3/4/24 = 1/x

Cross multiply:

3/4x = 24

Divide 3/4 to both sides or multiply by its reciprocal, 4/3:

x = 24 * 4/3

x = 96/3

x = 32

So you had a total of 32 muffins, now subtract this from the amount that blew away to find out how many you have left:

32 - 24 = 8

So you have 8 muffins left.
