George invented the machine to speed the process of cleaning hemp, earning the adoration of the factory's proprietor. Haley removed him from the factory and claimed that George was too lazy to work. George was then sent to work menial labour.
George was forced to take new wife since there were no lawful marriages between slaves because they were not actual citizens. George used to read the bible a lot but one day Mr Shelby sold him to Mr Haley.
