Information is gathered, analyzed and disseminated to the public in order to create awareness as well as for investigative purposes. The crimes reported in ic3 include identity theft, government impersonation scam and advance fee fraud. The malware fraud which is malicious software that can alter the function of a computer. It is not a major form of cybercrime reported to the Internet Crime Complaint Centre.
