A bus company operates services to and from the East, North,South and West regions of the country. A recent report from the Oper

ations Manager contains the following summary of their operations. "The total number of passenger journeys made on our services was 430,000. Of these, 124,000 were to and from the North, 61,000 to and from the South, and 80,000 to and from the East. Passengers used bus passes to pay for 158,000 of the total number of journeys: 43,000 on northern services, 51,000 on western services, and 35,000 on eastern services. Passengers who did not use a bus pass paid for their journeys in cash", Construct a two-way tabulation with rows for the country regions and columns for the method of payment. Work out the figures that are not quoted in the summary by using the information provided.

To find the number going to and from West is 165,000.

The number of bus passes from Southern services is 29,000.

The two-way tabulation

East------------------- 80,000

North------------------- 124,000

South------------------- 61,000

West-------------------- 165,000

Total--------------------------- 430,000

To find the number going to and from West:

80,000 + 124,000 + 61,000 + x = 430,000

265,000 + x = 430,000

x = 430,000 - 265,000

x= 165,000.

Table for the method of payment

Bus Passes

Northern services-------------------- 43,000

Western services-------------------- 51,000

Eastern services---------------------- 35, 000

Southern services---------------------- 29,000

Total----------------------------------------------158,000

Let x be the unknown variable,

43,000 + 51,000 + 35,000 + x = 158,000

129,000 + x = 158,000

x= 158,000 - 129, 000

x= 29,0000

23. The mean weight of trucks traveling on a particular section of 1-475 is not known. A state highway inspector needs an estima
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

0.3594 = 35.94% probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution.

Normal Probability Distribution:

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the z-score of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the p-value, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Mean is 15.8 tons, with a standard deviation of the sample of 4.2 tons.

This means that \mu = 15.8, \sigma = 4.2

What is probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons?

This is the pvalue of Z when X = 14.3. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{14.3 - 15.8}{4.2}

Z = -0.36

Z = -0.36 has a pvalue of 0.3594

0.3594 = 35.94% probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons

horsena [70]

We use the BODMAS method to solve the given questions.

Solve the Bracket then Divide Multiply Add and Subtract

1. 32÷4×(16×1/2) - 2

= 32÷4 × ( 8 ) - 2

= 8 × 8 - 2 = 64 - 2 = 62

2. 20 ÷ (5×2/5) + 3

= 20 ÷ (2) + 3 = 20 ÷ 2 + 3

= 10 + 3 = 13

3. 1/2 ×(6×4) ÷ 3 + 2

= 1/2 × 24 ÷ 3 + 2

= 1/2 × 8 + 2

= 4 + 2 = 6

4. 2 (6÷2+8) - 4

= 2 (3+8) - 4

= 2 × 11 - 4

= 22 - 4

= 18

tangare [24]

Well there are 12 marbles in total. If you select one green marble, you have 11 marbles in total. There are 4 blue marbles. So you have a 4/11 chance of selecting a blue marble or 36% probability of getting a blue marble.
