The girls collected 8.5 pounds more than the boys in class 4

Complete question

Five classes collected money for a charity of their choice. The amounts of money collected by the boys and girls of each are shown in the chart below.

In Class 4, how much more money did the girls collect than the boys?

How to determine the difference in amounts?

From the attached chart, we have the following amount in class 4:

Girls = 12 pounds

Boys = 3.5 pounds

The difference is calculated as:

Difference = Girls - Boys

So, we have:

Difference = 12 pounds - 3.5 pounds

Evaluate

Difference = 8.5 pounds

Hence, the girls collected 8.5 pounds more than the boys in class 4

Youn could test all of the options by putting 8 and 3 in for a and b.

A.    a - b = 5
       8 - 3 = 5
            5 = 5

B.   a + b = 5
      8 + 3 = 5
            11 ≠ 5

C.   a - b = 8
      8 - 3 = 8
           5 ≠ 8

D.   a + b = 8
      8 + 3 = 8
            11 ≠ 8

As you can see, the only one that works is A. a - b = 5.

What additional information do you need to prove △ABC ≅ △DEF by the SSS Postulate?
Fudgin [204]
The answer to this question is answer choice C.

For the SSS postulate, we need 3 pairs of congruent sides. However, in the image, there are only 2 pairs.

The missing pair in the image is AC and DF. If those are congruent, the triangle can be proven congruent by the SSS postulate.

Hope this helps! :)

Solving linear systems of substitution
never [62]
Example: 2x+2y=8 and 3y+2x=6
Okay so u first want to put on of the equations into a y= form. So let's use 3y+2x=6. Subtract 2x from both sides. 3y=6-2x divide by 3. Y= 6-2/3x or y= -2/3x + 6. Now just plug this new equation in for Y since "y=" into the other equation.
2x + 2(-2/3x + 6) = 8.
Then you would distribute the 2 into the parenthesis and simplify to solve for x.
After you solve for x, plug x into one of the original equations to find y.
