A or B are both the best options in this case, but B is the best option overall because if he is interested in an activity, then he will have more motivation.
You will need cardiovascular endurance/fitness in order to play water polo because you will be in the water and constantly swimming therefore you will really need to work on cardiovascular endurance when playing water polo.
