Answer:

the proton and the neutron

Explanation:

mass of The proton is approximately  1.6726 × 10^-27 Kg

mass of the electron  is approximately 9.109 × 10^-31 Kg

mass of the neutron  is approximately 1.6749 × 10^-27 Kg

Here we see that mass of proton and neutron is approximately similar.

_____________________________________________

Lets see what is  the mass of these particle IN atm unit

mass of these particles can also be described in form of amu(atomic mass unit)

1 atm is the mass defined as 1/12 th of mass of the carbon-12(c-12) atom.

In terms of unit atm

mass of proton = 1 amu

mass of electron = 5.45 × 10−4 amu

mass of neutron = 1 amu

hence we can say that mass of proton = mass of neutron.

mass of atom is sum of mass of all the neutron and proton in the atom.

Hence, mass of neturon and atom cannot be equal.

This makes option four the neutron and the atom , the wrong choice.

correct answer is the proton and the neutron

therefore, An atom contains one proton , one electron and one neutron then, mass of proton is similar in mass of neutron.

An ionic bond occurs between what particles?
atroni [7]

Answer:

A positive and negative ion.

Explanation:

Ionic bond:

It is the bond which is formed by the transfer of electron from one atom to the atom of another element.

Both bonded atoms have very large electronegativity difference.

The atom with large electronegativity value accept the electron from other with smaller value of electronegativity.

For example:

Sodium chloride is ionic compound. The electronegativity of chlorine is 3.16 and for sodium is 0.93. There is large difference is present. That's why electron from sodium is transfer to the chlorine. Sodium becomes positive and chlorine becomes negative ion.  Sodium have one valance electron while chlorine have 7 valance electrons. In order to complete the octet chlorine require one electron while sodium need to lose its one electrons. That's why when both atom combine sodium lose its electron and becomes positive ion i.e cation while chlorine accept its electron and becomes negative ion called anion and bond between them is ionic bond.

What is the correct symbol of an ion containing 17 protons,20 neutrons and 18 electrons
Nataliya [291]

Answer:

The symbol of the ion is A^-

Explanation:

Let A be the symbol of the element.

Proton = 17

Electron = 18

Neutron = 20

Since the element has more electrons than protons, it means it has gain electrons.

From the question given,

The difference between the electron and proton = 18 — 17 = 1

So, the element has gain 1 electron.

Therefore the symbol of the ion is A^-
