Answer:

14, 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the consecutive even numbers be (2x) and (2x+  2)

Twice the smaller number = 2*2x = 4x

Sum  = 44

4x  + 2x + 2 = 44

 Combine like terms

     6x + 2 = 44

Now, subtract 2 from both sides

              6x = 44 -2

              6x = 42

Divide both sides by 6

                x = 42/6

                x = 7

2x = 2*7 =14

2x + 2 = 2*7 + 2

          = 14 + 2

          = 16

Answer:

14,16

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the first even number.

Let y be the 2nd even number.

Given, y - x = 2 (Since they are 2 consecutive even numbers.)

rearranging the equation: y = x+2 (equation 1)

Also given,

y+2x=44\\ (equation 2)

Now we can substitute equation 1 into equation 2 to find x.

x+2+2x = 44\\3x+2 = 44\\3x = 44-2\\3x=42\\x = \frac{42}{3} \\x = 14

Given the smaller even number x, is 14, we will substitute x into equation1 to find y, the bigger even number.

y = 14+2

= 16

Therefore the 2 numbers are 14 and 16.

Which ordered pairs lie on the graph of the exponential function f(x)=2^(x+4)−8?
natka813 [3]
Given the function

f(x)=2^{(x+4)}-8

Consider the point (2, 56) i.e. when x = 2

f(x)=2^{2+4}-8 \\  \\ =2^6-8=64-8 \\  \\ =56

Therefore, point (2, 56) lie on the graph of the given exponential function.

Consider the point (-2, -4) i.e. when x = -2

f(x)=2^{-2+4}-8 \\  \\ =2^2-8=4-8 \\  \\ =-4

Therefore, point (-2, -4) lie on the graph of the given exponential function.

Consider the point (8, 0) i.e. when x = 8

f(x)=2^{8+4}-8 \\  \\ =2^{12}-8=4,096-8 \\  \\ =4,088

Therefore, point (8, 0) does not lie on the graph of the given exponential function.

Consider the point (24, 1) i.e. when x = 24

f(x)=2^{24+4}-8 \\  \\ =2^{28}-8=268,435,456-8 \\  \\ =-268,435,448

Therefore, point (24, 1) does not lie on the graph of the given exponential function.

Ahmed and Christy are selling boxes of fruit for a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser. Customers can buy small boxes of fruit and l
Kamila [148]

Answer:

The cost of one small box of fruit is $5.00 and the cost of one large box of fruit is $15.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x ----> the cost of one small box of fruit

y ----> the cost of one large box of fruit

we know that

Ahmed

Ahmed sold 24 small boxes of fruit and 14 large boxes of fruit for a total of $337.00.

so

24x+14y=337.00 -----> equation A

Christy

Christy sold 21 small boxes of fruit and 16 large boxes of fruit for a total of $353.00

so

21x+16y=353.00 ----> equation B

Solve the system by graphing

Remember that the solution is the intersection point both graphs

using a graphing tool

The solution is the point (5,15.5)

see the attached figure

therefore

The cost of one small box of fruit is $5.00 and the cost of one large box of fruit is $15.50
