1. Sectionalism in the United States was the undue devotion to regional interests over those of the United States, severely dividing it into the Pro-slavery South and Anti-slavery North.

2. The big issue in the United States as a result of the westward expansion was Slavery in the Western Territories.

3. The Missouri Compromise remained a temporary solution to the issue of slavery in 1820 as the nation later engaged in a divisive and devastating Civil War largely centered on the issue of slavery.

How did slavery divide the United States?

The Southern economy relied on enslaved labor for the cultivation of its large plantations of cotton, tobacco, and other crops.

The North used enslaved labor for mostly domestic activities since the economy did not require labor-intensiveness. It later outlawed the spread of slavery.

Thus, sectionalism in the United States divided the nation into the Pro-slavery South and Anti-slavery North.

What was one significant accomplishment of the Hoover administration during his first year in office?
fiasKO [112]

Answer:

The best answer to your question: What was one significant accomplishment of the Hoover administration during his first year in office, would be, B: Creation of a federal agricultural program to regulate farm prices.

Explanation:

Herbert Hoover became the 31st president of the United States right when the country, and the world, was on the verge of a major financial crisis; the Great Depression. Although Hoover attempted several policies to try and help change the situation, both his conservative views on government interventionism, and other factors, prevented these policies from having the desired effect. Among the many areas of American life in which Hoover attempted to help with his policies, was the agricultural field. As such, in 1929 he signed into law the Agricultural Maketing Act, and established with it the Federal Farm Board, which attempted to stabilize prices through cooperatives and corporations, ensure the proper sale of American agricultural products and also ensure the buying of the surplus production by the federal government to help with the stabilization of prices. This is why the answer is B.

Carlos has an appointment with Higuain in a half hour at his office. However, Carlos decides to take care of some personal erran
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

D. polychronic culture.

Explanation:

Carlos is from a polychronic culture because he does multiple things at the same time. We can see that on his way to a meeting, he is running errands. That is to say, Carlos is using s specific time for various activities. If Carlos were from a monochronic culture, he would run his errands after or before the meeting. Besides, his trip to the office will be without any stops in other places because he would be dedicating a specific time to every activity he does.

In a high context culture, the communication is mostly implicit. There is a lot of information that the listener takes from voice tone, movements, and expressions. The person has to interpret the message.

In a low context culture, the communication is explicit and very clear. The listener does not have to interpret the message. It is not related to the context as in high context culture, what the speaker said with the focus on the meaning of every word in the message is what he/she meant.
