During the Second World War, D-Day planned to begin with Paratroopers dropping into France before the invasion. Their goal was to re-take France from the hands of Germans. Allied forces pushed Germans back and caused Germany to fight a two-front war. The outcome was the victory on the Allies side during the D-Day Normandy landings.  The invasion has called for starting the end of the war in Europe.
