I believe that some of the benefits are longer life span, the ability to harvest crops, and the ability to create a thriving community. I think these are good benefits because if you are living in a permanent settlement then you can grow your own crops meaning that you can live off of those crops and you dont have to go foraging for food (sometimes producing nothing).
