Sav [38]

The message or theme, of ¨The Ministers Black Veil¨ Is simple, everyone has a sin, it´s just hidden. Backup proof: On its most straightforward reading, it seems that the central theme of “The Minister's Black Veil” is made explicit in Mr. Hooper's dying words: everyone has a secret sin that is hidden from all others. thank you for your time!

WHAT TO THE SLAVE IS THE FOURTH OF JULY?
mezya [45]

The tone of Frederick Douglass' speech is Forceful, angry. In this excerpt there are some rhetoric questions which convey strong meaning and provide power to the speech, for instance: "and am I, therefore, called upon to bring our humble offering to the national altar, and to confess the benefits, and express devout gratitude for the blessings, resulting from your independence to us??"

Also Douglass' speech includes statements that clearly express how angry Douglass was about an American Independence in which they were still segregated and not included at all. For example: "I say it with a sad sense of the disparity between us. I am not included within the pale of this glorious anniversary!" or the following question: "Do you mean, citizens, to mock me, by asking me to speak to-day?" He sounds really offended by the fact that he was invited to speak about independence or liberty when slaves abounded in the US.
