In 2010, the controversial The Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act or as it is also known as Arizona Senate Bill 1070, among other things required immigrants to carry their papers with them at all times and allowed police officers, even required them, to check the person’s immigration status if they believed that the  person in question is there illegally.
