A farmer uses two types of fertilizers. A 50-lb bag of Fertilizer A contains 10 lbs. of nitrogen, 2 lbs. of phosphorus, and 6 lb

s. of potassium. A 50-lb bag of Fertilizer B contains 5 lbs. each of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The minimum requirements for a field are 420 lbs. of nitrogen, 240 lbs. of phosphorus, and 360 lbs. of potassium. If a 50-lb bag of Fertilizer A costs $35 and a 50-lb bag of Fertilizer B costs $25, find the amount of each type of fertilizer the farmer should use to minimize his cost while still meeting the minimum requirements. The answer is, Fertilizer A = 20, Fertilizer B = 56.

<h3>What is fertilizer and example?</h3>
  • Among the organic fertilizers that occur naturally are manure, slurry, worm castings, peat, seaweed, and guano. Crops made of green manure are also raised to enrich the soil with nutrients.
  • Organic fertilizers also include naturally occurring minerals including mine rock phosphate, sulfate of potash, and limestone.

<h3>Set up the equations:</h3>
  • Nitrogen: 8x + 5y ≥ 440.
  • Phosphorous: 2x + 5y ≥ 260.
  • Potassium: 4x + 5y ≥ 360.
<h3>Find the vertices:</h3>
  • It is easiest to graph the equations to find the vertices. (see attachment).
  • You can also solve each system of equations to find the intersected points.

<h3>The following satisfy the "greater than or equal to" requirement:</h3>
  • (0, 88)  = y-intercept of Nitrogen equation.
  • (20, 56) = intersection of Nitrogen and Potassium equations.
  • (50, 32)  = intersection of Phosphorous and Potassium.
  • (130, 0)  = x-intercept of Potassium.

<h3>Use vertices in cost function C(x) to find the minimum:</h3>

  • C(x) = $30x + $20y.
  • (0, 88): $30(0) + $20(88) = $1760.
  • (20, 56): $30(20) + $20(56) = $1720    = This is the minimum!
  • (50, 32): $30(50) + $20(32) = $2140.
  • (130, 0): $30(130) + $20(0) = $3900.

The minimum cost occurs when 20 bags of Fertilizer A and 56 bags of Fertilizer B are purchased.

Answer:

1. The disagreement between these economists is most likely due to

a. differences in values

2. Despite their differences, with which proposition are two economists chosen at random most likely to agree?

a. Lawyers make up an excessive percentage of elected officials.

Explanation:

Economists chosen at random do not usually agree on economic events and realities, instead, they are more likely to agree on issues that are not economic.  They offer differing opinions based on similar principles.  Most of their disagreements stem from differences in what they place their values on.  Some value market-oriented approaches while others value government interventions in market situations, with other variants in-between.

Cameron has decided to diversify his investments in the following way: $3,000 in an account earning 2. 7% simple interest $5,000
Rudiy27

His total interest after three years is $1,135. 30.

<h3>What is interest?</h3>

Interest refers to money that is received in an investment or a loan. It is always a percentage of the principal sum.

For the first investment;

I = PRT/100 = $3,000 × 2.7  × 3/100 = $243

For the second investment;

A = P(1 + r/n)^nt

A = 5000(1 + 0.018)^3

A = $5275

I = $5275 - $5000 = $275

For the third investment

A = 5,000(1 + 0.00975)^(4 × 3)

A = $5617

I = $5617 - $5,000 = $617

Total interest = $617 + $275 + $243 = $1,135. 30

To which of the following transactions does the common law Statute of Frauds not apply?a. Contracts for the sale of real estate.
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

The false statement is letter "D": Contracts that can be performed within one year.

Explanation:

The statute of frauds establishes contracts to be written for some agreements to be secured. It mainly applies to land sales and purchases of goods $500 (U.S. dollars) and above, but it is not limited to only those two kinds of transactions. The statute of frauds capitalizes that contracts cannot be completed in less than one year. In that sense, the option "D" is a false statement.

A real estate office handles an apartment complex with 50 units. When the rent per unit is $580 per month, all 50 units are occu
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

a. x=\frac{1330-y}{15}

b. x=\frac{1330-655}{15}

x=\frac{655}{15} = 45

c. x=\frac{1330-610}{15}

x=\frac{720}{15} = 48

Explanation:

a.

using the point-slope form we have that:

y= mx + b

m being the slope which has the next equation:

y is the rent price

x is the units of the apartment complex rented

m=\frac{y1-y2}{x1-x2}

m=\frac{580-625}{50-47}=\frac{-45}{3} = -15

Now we find the Y intercept (b):

580=-15(50)+b

580=-750+b

b=580+750 = 1330

We have the equation:

y=-15x + 1330

Now we have tu put in terms of the rent p (y)

y=-15x + 1330

15x = 1330 - y

x=\frac{1330-y}{15}

b.

The first graph attached corresponds to the equation showed in point a.

The second graph attached corresponds to the equation if the rent is $655

Using the trace feature it is estimated that for a rent price of $655 the units occupied are 45.

x=\frac{1330-655}{15}

x=\frac{655}{15} = 45

c. The third graph attached corresponds to the equation if the rent is $610

Using the trace feature it is estimated that for a rent price of $610 the units occupied are 48.

x=\frac{1330-610}{15}

x=\frac{720}{15} = 48
