Find the area of the figure below
Serhud [2]
Easy

the easiest way is to imagine that you have a rectangle with a corner cut off
the area of the figure=area of rectangle-area cut off

area that was cut off was a triangle

area of rectangle=length times width
area of triangle=1/2base times height

so we draw imaginary lines like in attachment
find area of rectangle
legnth=9 inch
width=9 inch
area=9 times 9=81 in^2

triangle
the top part is ?+5=9, so the base of triangle=4
the side is ?+4=9, so the base is 5
area=1/2 times 4 times 5=10 in^2

area=rectangle-triangle
area=81-10=71 in^2

Why is math important in our daily life?
fredd [130]
~Hello there!

Your question: Why is math important in our daily life?

Your answer: Math is important is our daily lives because it has become mandatory. We use it in each and everywhere. Which ever field you are getting into, math is always used there. Math is used in our kitchen, banks, schools, everywhere! Just think for a moment, what would be the world like without math..?
How will the engineers construct building?
How will we get the grades for our examinations?
How will we get to know the score of a football match?
Math is used everywhere, thus, in today's century math is obligatory.

Any questions?

Isabella went into a movie theater and bought 3 drinks and 10 pretzels, costing a total of $54.50. Jason went into the same movi
ruslelena [56]

The price of 1 drink is $ 4 and price of 1 pretzel is $ 4.25

Solution:

Let d" be the price of 1 drink

Let "p" be the price of 1 pretzel

Given that, Isabella went into a movie theater and bought 3 drinks and 10 pretzels, costing a total of $54.50

Therefore, we can frame a equation as,

3 x price of 1 drink + 10 x price of 1 pretzel = 54.50

3 \times d + 10 \times p = 54.50

3d + 10p = 54.5 ---------- eqn 1

Jason went into the same movie theater and bought 9 drinks and 5 pretzels, costing a total of $57.25

9 x price of 1 drink + 5 x price of 1 pretzel = 57.25

9 \times d + 5 \times p = 57.25

9d + 5p = 57.25 ---------- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

Multiply eqn 1 by 3

9d + 30p = 163.5 ----- eqn 3

Subtract eqn 2 from eqn 3

9d + 30p = 163.5

9d + 5p = 57.25

( - ) -----------------------

25p = 106.25

p = 4.25

Substitute p = 4.25 in eqn 1

3d + 10(4.25) = 54.5

3d + 42.5 = 54.5

3d = 54.5 - 42.5

3d = 12

d = 4

Thus price of 1 drink is $ 4 and price of 1 pretzel is $ 4.25

What is the easiest way to explain how to dilate an object/ shape
Nat2105 [25]

 Dilation - of a polygon A transformation in which a polygon is enlarged or reduced by a given factor around a given center point. Try this Adjust the slider on the right to change the scale factor. Drag the center point O. Dilation is where the polygon grows or shrinks but keeps the same overall shape. It's a little like zooming in or out on a camera. In the figure above, the polygon is a rectangle ABCD. As you adjust the slider on the right, the transformed rectangle A'B'C'D gets bigger and smaller, but remains the same shape
