Based on the stage direction, the statement that best describes the setting of the play is an abandoned farmhouse on a cold day.

What is Stage direction?

In literature, stage direction may be defined as an explanation or recommendation furnished in the text of a play.

The audience is proclaimed who is in the background and how the stage is set up by the stage instructions.

It also directs to what is happening on stage with respect to the circumstance of the play.

When reciting a play, stage directions are reasonable because they support the readers envision of the actual activities proceeding on the stage of the play.

The complete question is as follows:

 • the sheriff’s farmhouse on a snowy day
 • a long-deserted plot of land in the country in early spring
 • an abandoned farmhouse on a cold day
 • a large house in the country on a winter evening.

Thus, the correct option for this question is C, i.e. an abandoned farmhouse on a cold day.

In at least 150 words, explain how and why Miller crafted The Crucible as an allegory.
Gnesinka [82]

Arthur Miller crafted The Crucible as an allegory by basing his characters off of real people that went through the Salem Witch Trials. Arthur Miller was called in during the Red Scare and was asked if he ever knew any Communists that threatened America. Miller felt attacked and wrote The Crucible to show how he saw the whole incident. He compared the experience to the court cases in the Witch Trials in which people were forced to betray their friends and family.

If that isn't enough, or what you are looking for, you can finish it, but I have to go so that's all I have right now.

Have a blessed day!
