Answer:

y = 21

Step-by-step explanation:

When x is directly proportional to y:

When x increases, y also increases.

In this case, it is so you write,

1. Write down the formula: y=kx

k being the constant.

Let's use "When x = 4, y = 7" to work out the constant.

2. Substitute the 'when' values: 7=k×4

3. Rearrange to find the constant: 7÷4=k

4. Find k: k=1.75

Now let's see the new problem, 'what is y when x = 12'.

5. Substitute the values now but keep the constant: y = 1.75 × 12

6. Rearrange if needed.

7. Find the missing value: y = 21

Hope this helped and if you require further assistance from me please comment below! :)

Ps: If it was inversely proportional then the formula would be y = k / x

with k still being the constant.

After accelerating for 20 seconds, a DeLorean sports car has a wide range of speeds that it can achieve, depending on traction.
VikaD [51]

Answer:

81.859%

Step-by-step explanation:

We solve the question using z score formula

z = (x-μ)/σ, where

x is the raw score

μ is the population mean = 80 mph

σ is the population standard deviation = 7 mph

For x = 66 mph

z = 66 - 80/7

z = -2

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x = 66) = 0.02275

For x = 87 mph

z = 87 - 80/7

z = 1

Probabilith value from Z-Table:

P(x = 87) = 0.84134

The probability of the trials will give the DeLorean a speed between 66 mph and 87 mph is calculated as:

P(x = 87 mph) - P(x = 66 mph)

0.84134 - 0.02275

= 0.81859

The percentage of the trials will give the DeLorean a speed between 66 mph and 87 mph?

100 × 0.81859

81.859%

Simplify this please

Answer: Choice C)
5*sqrt(3) - 20*sqrt(2)

Check out the attached image to see how I got that answer. Specifically look at figure 1. The other figures are supplemental steps to help break things up into a more organized solution (and to prevent too much clutter).

The idea I'm using to simplify is to basically factor the radicand (stuff under the radical or square root) into two numbers where one number is a perfect square. The goal is to pick the largest perfect square factor possible. Then I used the rule that sqrt(x*y) = sqrt(x)*sqrt(y) to break up the roots.

After each piece is simplified, the next step is to combine like terms. In this case, the sqrt(2) terms are combined.
