Symptoms of acute angle-closure glaucoma include headache, severe eye pain, and blurred vision. Acute angle-closure glaucoma is caused by a rapid or sudden increase in intraocular pressure (IOP), the pressure within the eye. Seek immediate medical for blurred vision, nausea, headache, and eye pain.

Angle-closure is defined as the apposition of the iris to the trabecular meshwork, which results in increased intraocular pressure (IOP). In acute angle closure (AAC), the process occurs suddenly with a dramatic onset of symptoms, including blurred vision, red eye, pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

Primary angle-closure glaucoma is associated with the closure of the anterior chamber angle of the eye, in contrast to the most common form of glaucoma known as primary open-angle glaucoma. This angle is an important structure in the eye and is present 360 degrees around the circumference of the eye.
