A mail carrier can deliver mail to 36 houses in 30 minutes. Mark wants to determine how many houses the carrier can deliver mail

to in 7.5 minutes at this rate. He thinks that to find the answer, he should do the following.
1. First divide 36 houses by 30 minutes to find a unit rate of 1.2 houses per minute.
2. Then multiply 1.2 houses per minute by 7.5 minutes to get 9 houses.

Mark's method is correct, because even though it is impossible to deliver mail to 1.2 houses in minute,  it represents the unit rate of houses per minute .

<h3>Is Mark's method correct?</h3>

The first step is to determine the unit rate of houses per minute. This can be done by dividing 36 houses by 30 minutes.

36/30 = 1.2 houses per minute

The second step is to multiply 1.2 by 7.5: 1.2 x 7.5 = 9 houses

A concrete patio is
astra-53 [7]

The length of concrete patio is 6.5 feet which is less than given 7 foot picnic table. So the concrete slab is not enough to fit a 7 foot picnic table

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that concrete patio is 5\frac{2}{3} feet wide

Area of concrete patio = 36\frac{2}{3} square feet

Therefore,

\texttt{Width of concrete patio = }5\frac{2}{3}=\frac{5\times 3+2}{3}=\frac{17}{3}feet\\\\\text{Area of concrete patio = }36\frac{2}{3}=\frac{36\times 3+2}{3}=\frac{110}{3}feet^2

Let us find the length of concrete patio

Concrete patio is usually of shape rectangle

Area of concrete patio = length x width

\frac{110}{3} = length \times \frac{17}{3}\\\\length = \frac{110}{3} \times \frac{3}{17}\\\\length = \frac{110}{17} = 6.4705 \approx 6.5

Therefore length of concrete patio is 6.5 feet

So it cannot fit the 7 foot picnic table. Since the length of concrete patio is 6.5 feet which is less than given 7 foot picnic table

Indicate the equation of the line, in standard form, that passes through (2, -4) and has a slope of 3/5. Enter your answer into
ANEK [815]

Answer:

-3/5x + y = - 26/5

Step-by-step explanation:

First, I put everything in slope-intercept form, just because it's more simple for me.

y = 3/5x + b

Since we don't have b, we can use the coordinate they give us to solve for it.

-4 = 3/5 (2) + b

-26/5 = b

y = 3/5x - 26/5

Now, we can move the variables around to fit the form:

Ax + By = C

-3/5x + y = - 26/5

I hope this helped!
