How to find the speed by biking and walking ?

let $b$ = time spent biking

then   $8-b$ =time spent walking

Write distance equation

$dist=speed *time$

So bike distance $+$ walk distance $=60mile$

$8b+4(8-b)=60\\8b+32-4b=60\\4b=60-32\\b=28/4\\\\b=7hrs$

Then $8-7=1 hrs$ spent walking.

For cross check the answer find that actual distance for each

$8(7)=56mi\\4(1)=4mi\\-------\\total distance=60mile$
