Using proportions, the expected number of adults in Palm City whose main source of news is the internet or newspaper is of 19,413.

What is a proportion?

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three. Due to this, relations between variables, either direct or inverse proportional, can be built to find the desired measures in the problem.

From the table, the proportion of adults in Palm City whose main source of news is the internet or newspaper is found as follows:

p = (62 + 88)/(62 + 88 + 128 +24 + 38) = 0.4412.

Hence, out of 44,000 adults, the expected number is found as follows:

0.4412 x 44000 = 19,413.

A bag contains 6 black tiles, 5 white tiles, and 4 blue tiles. Event A is defined as drawing a white tile from the bag on the fi
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:

5/14

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 15 tiles in total

5 white| 6 black | 4 blue

event A results in the subject pulling a white tile and not replacing it

5-1= 4

so the first answer should be 4/15

event B results in the subject pulling another tile, a black one and not replacing it.

6-1= 5

given this answer, there is one less tile in the total, since we removed another tile.

So our answer would be-

5/14 or D

In constructing the equation, you need to know the following:

1. What don't we know? How many minutes you must talk to have the same cost for both calling plans. So, let x be the number of minutes.
2. What do we know? Plan 1 charges $17.50 per month plus $0.17 per minute used and Plan 2 charges $32 per month plus $0.07 per minute used.

So the equation must look like this: 17.50 + .17x = 32 + 0.07x

Solving the equation:

1. Multiply both sides by 100
(100) 17.5 + .17x = 32 + 0.07x (100)
1750 + 17x = 3200 + 7x

2. Subtract 1750 from both sides
1750 + 17x - 1750 = 3200 + 7x - 1750
17x = 7x +1450

3. Subtract 7x from both sudes
17x - 7x = 7x + 1450 - 7x
10x = 1450

4. Divide both sides by 100
10x / 10 = 1450/10

x= 145 minutes

145 minutes is the number of minutes you must talk to have the same cost for both calling plans.
