The cost of attending an amusement park is $10 for children and $20 for adults. On a particular day, the attendance at the amuse

ment park is 30,000 attendees, and the total money earned by the park is $500,000. Use the matrix equation to determine how many children attended the park that day. Use the given matrix equation to solve for the number of children’s tickets sold. Explain the steps that you took to solve this problem.

Using a system of equations, it is found that 10,000 children attended the park that day.

<h3>What is a system of equations?</h3>

A system of equations is when two or more variables are related, and equations are built to find the values of each variable.

In this problem, the variables are:

  • Variable c: Number of children in the park.
  • Variable a: Number of adults in the park.

The attendance at the amusement park is 30,000 attendees, hence:

c + a = 30,000, which is the first equation in matrix form.

Then:

a = 30,000 - c

The cost of attending an amusement park is $10 for children and $20 for adults. The total money earned by the park is $500,000, hence:

10c + 20a = 500,000, which is the second equation in matrix form.

Since a = 30,000 - c, we replace:

10c + 20a = 500,000

10c + 20(30000 - c) = 500,000

10c = 100,000

c = 10,000.

the graph of the absolute value parent function is vertically stretched by a factor of three, then shifted two units left &amp;
ahrayia [7]

Answer:

  • y =  3 | x + 2 | - 5

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>The absolute value function is:</u>

  • y = | x |

<u>Step 1. Function is vertically stretched by a factor of 3:</u>

  • y = 3 * | x |

<u>Step 2. Shifted two units left:</u>

  • y = 3 | x + 2 |

<u>Step 3. Shifted 5 units down:</u>

  • y =  3 | x + 2 | - 5

Over the last 3  evenings, Keisha received a total of 81  phone calls at the call center. The first evening, she received 6  few
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

First: 15

Second: 21

Third: 45

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to create the equation we need to represent the evenings with an alebraic term, in thsi case we are going to represent the second evening with an X

Second evening:x

The first night she got 6 fewer calls than the second: Second-6=x-6

The third night she received 3 times the first: 3(first night)=3(x-6)

The equation is First Night plus second night plus third night equals 81.

First+second+third=81\\x+(x-7)+3(x-6)=81\\x+x-7+3x-18=81\\5x=81+21+6\\5x=105\\x=\frac{105}{5} \\x=21

So the first evening he received 15 calls, the second he received 21 and the third one he received 45.

A pharmaceutical company is developing a new oral medication for the treatment of psoriasis, a skin disease marked by red, itchy
xeze [42]

Let's say we had a sample of 100 people. We'll split them into two equal groups of 50 each. The two groups will be the treatment and control groups. The treatment group, aka experimental group, is where the actual drug is given. The control group is where the fake drug is given. People in the control group must not know the pill is fake. For more info, check out the placebo effect. In short, this is when a person takes a fake pill and thinks they get better, and that positive mentality helps them actually get better.

If both the treatment and control groups improve (on average) together, then that means the fake pill is just as good as the real thing. Consequently, it means the real pill isn't effective at all. If on the other hand the experimental group does better overall compared to the control group, then we can see that the real pill is doing what it's intended to do. Of course, there are a lot of complicated factors involved, as there is with anything dealing with medicine. I haven't mentioned anything about side effects or things of that nature. In this simplified viewpoint of the world, we're only considering the one factor of whether or not the drug clears up the psoriasis on the skin.

To make things fair, it's best to randomly generate numbers so that you randomly assign people into each group. That way you have representative samples. Also, when drawing the sample of 100 people, make sure that's as random as possible to help represent the population as best as possible. The fact that the people in the control group not knowing that they are taking the fake pill means we have a single blind experiment. A double blind experiment is when even the researchers are not sure who is taking the real pill vs the fake pill. Double blind experiments are encouraged to prevent the researcher's bias from affecting the results.

To keep participants from knowing whether or not they are in the control group, the common solution is to provide a sugar pill. The pill will not cause any side effects and will not cause any improvements to health. It's simply sugar. To the participant, it seems like the real thing since they can't taste the difference or detect anything seems different.
