Isabel is incorrect because the point of intersection between line B and parabola A that can be determined is the y-intercept of the equations, not the vertex.  This can be obtained using finding y intercept of both parabolas and vertex of parabola A.

<h3>Is her claim correct?  </h3>

Parabola A, (x + 3)² = y = x² + 6x + 9

Parabola B, y = mx + 9

  • For parabola A, when x = 0, y = (0+3)²

x=0, y = 9

y coordinate of parabola A is (0,9)

⇒The vertex coordinate,

(-b/2a , -(b²-4ac)/4a) = (-3,0)

  • For parabola B, when x = 0, y = 0 + 9

x=0, y = 9

y coordinate of parabola B is (0,9)

Isabel claims one solution to the system of two equations must always be the vertex of parabola A which is wrong.

Hence Isabel is incorrect because the point of intersection between line B and parabola A that can be determined is the y-intercept of the equations, not the vertex.

Can someone help me please

Wow !  If I understand what's go0ing on here, then
we have to be careful, and THINK .

I was going to ask you "What does  Ф  mean ?", and then I realized,
Ф is a new operation that the teacher invented.

The first line on the board is the definition of Ф .

Ф means "<u>Add the two numbers and subtract 4</u>."

Now you have to use this new invention to find the value
of the second line:

Take care of the stuff inside the parentheses first: ( 4 Ф 2 )
<u>Add the two numbers and subtract 4
</u>4 + 2 - 4 = <u>2</u><u>
</u>That's the part inside the parentheses. It's <span><u>2</u> .</span><u>

</u>NOW, we have to do the new operation with the 2 inside,
and the 3 that's outside the parentheses:<u>

</u>3 Ф 2
<u>Add the two numbers and subtract 4</u>
3 + 2 - 4 =<u> 1</u>

And that's the final value of 3 Ф (4 Ф 2) .  It's <u>1</u> .

Pretty sneaky.

Emaan charges a fixed amount for a bracelet, with an additional charge for each charm a customer adds to the bracelet. Write a l
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

f(x) = y + (x*p)

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we are not given actual values we will need to make the function with only variables. Each variable will represent the following...

Fixed Cost: y

Cost per charm: p

Number of charms: x

Therefore, using the variables mentioned above we can combine them into the following linear function using the number of charms as our main input for our function...

f(x) = y + (x*p)

In the coordinate plane, what is the length of the line segment that connects points at (5,4) and (-3,-1)
baherus [9]

Answer:

9.434 units

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

points (5,4) and (-3,-1)

x1= 5

y1= 4

x2= -3

y2= -1

The expression for the distance between two points is

d=√((x_2-x_1)²+(y_2-y_1)²)

substitute

d=√((-3-5)²+(-1-4)²)

d=√((-8)²+(-5)²)

d=√64+25

d=√89

d=9.4339

d= 9.434 units

Hence the distance between the points is 9.434 units
