The Sumerians believed in many gods. This is evident from the many mentioned in Gilgamesh, including Ishtar, Ninsun, and Enlil.

The Sumerians believed that the gods could interact with humans, which can be seen from Ishtar's interaction with Gilgamesh and Enkidu.

The Sumerians believed in communication with the gods through dreams and omens. Utanapishtim learns of the flood through a dream given to him by gods.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia, appeared because the earliest surviving super literature and the second oldest nonsecular text, after the Pyramid Texts. The literary records of Gilgamesh start offevolved with five Sumerian poems approximately Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, courting from the Third Dynasty of Ur.
