People who are allergic to bee stings are actually having a response to the antibodies produced by their immune system when they

are stung. This is called anaphylaxis. Most people who end up having a bee sting allergy did not have anaphylaxis the first time they were stung. It is only upon the second sting, or subsequent stings that they have an allergic response. Explain this phenomenon. a. After encountering the allergen, B cells create B-cell receptors on their surface that can bind to it more quicklly upon subsequent exposures to the allergen b. More antibodies (IgE binding to mast cells and resulting in their degranulation) on second exposure results in more infiammation causing anaphylaxis c. Less antibodies (IgE binding to mast cells and resulting in their degranulation) on second exposure results in less inflammation causing anaphylaxis d. The innate immune system uses its memory cells to produce more inflammation after the second bee sting resulting in anaphylaxis

The innate immune system uses its memory cells to produce more inflammation after the second bee sting resulting in anaphylaxis.

What are anaphylaxis and its effect on immunity?

For the majority of people, a bee sting only causes momentary pain and discomfort, but for those who are allergic to the venom, the results can be disastrous: they go into anaphylactic shock, which includes a drop in blood pressure, itchy hives, and breathing difficulties, and may even result in death if not treated right away. Subjects who are first exposed to a foreign substance, such as a disease or a poisonous chemical like venom, experience innate immune reactions.

Such innate immune responses don't need to be developed into antibodies or be immunized beforehand. As opposed to this, during an adaptive immune response, the immune system produces antibodies that identify the pathogen or toxin that is causing the infection; this process enables the development of vaccines to prevent infectious diseases. In most cases, adaptive immunity is a quicker, more focused, and more potent kind of defense than innate immunity.

So, the correct answer is option D.

Which situations would be most likely to engage the anterior cingulate cortex?
maria [59]

Answer:

Which of the following situations would be most likely to engage the anterior cingulate cortex?

A waiter walks over to your table at a restaurant and holds an open menu in front of you.

You walk into the elevator of your apartment building and press the button for your floor.

You enter your classroom and find someone sitting in your usual seat.

A good friend asks you to remind him of your telephone number.

Explanation:

In order to meet the demand of the surrounding environment   by adjusting  the  motor outputs from the brain to the environments ,a part of the emotion control part of the brain( limbic system) called the anterior cingulate cortex is responsible for this.

Anatomically, the limbic system is made up of the primarily the amygdala, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, basal ganglia and cingulate gyrus.

Based on the this its(anterior cingulate cortex) functions are formation of emotion in the limbic system, and  possessing  of memory and learning.

it is also a major  parts of  of pain networks for pain modulation and perception.

Therefore whenever there is  change in the environment  from the prestored condition in the brain,(e.g the usual seat  in the class room  occupied above) the anterior cingulate cortex adjust the motor input from the brain to adapt to the new environment to take an action, whih in this case  leads to the reclaiming of the seat or any other necessary proactive action.

Which of the following is not a property of DNA polymerase? Which of the following is a property of DNA polymerase? It requires
Elan Coil [88]

Answer:

It is associated with a sliding clamp only on the leading strand.

Explanation:

DNA polymerase must exhibit higher processivity for an efficient DNA replication process. The processivity is imparted by some specific subunits such as the beta subunit of DNA polymerase III. These subunits form a sliding clamp to allow the DNA polymerase to add a large number of nucleotides to the primer before detaching from the template.

Four copies of beta subunits of DNA polymerase III form a donuts shaped structure around each template strand of DNA and serve as a clamp. Each pair of beta subunits associated with core DNA polymerase. The function of these sub-units is to slide along DNA as replication processed. The sliding clamp does not allow the dissociation of DNA polymerase frequently and allows efficient replication of both leading and lagging strands.
