7 0
\bf f(x) = 4(x + 7)^2(x - 7)^3\implies 0 = 4(x + 7)^2(x - 7)^3
\\\\\\
0=(x+7)^2(x-7)^3\implies
\begin{cases}
0=(x+7)^7\\
\qquad 0=(x+7)(x+7)\\
\qquad -7=x\\
\qquad -7=x\\
----------\\
0=(x-7)^3\\
\qquad 0=(x-7)(x-7)(x-7)\\
\qquad 7=x\\
\qquad 7=x\\
\qquad 7=x
\end{cases}

the -7 is found there twice, so it has a multiplicity of 2
the +7 is there thrice, so it has multiplicity of 3

a company uses two vans to transport workers from a free parking lot to the work place between 7:00 and 9:00 am one van has 6 mo
k0ka [10]
So first, I would assign the small van a variable for how many people it can hold, or x.

So since it makes two trips,

2x

And since the other van can hold six more people,

2x + x + 6

And 57 people are transported:

3x + 6 = 57

We can then solve.

3x = 57 - 6

3x = 51

x = 17

So since we now know a small can hold 17 people, and we know that the larger van has 6 more seats, we can just say

17 + 6 = 23

So the large van has 23 seats.

A square piece of paper is folded in half vertically. The resulting figure has a perimeter of 21 in. What is the number of units
Rudiy27

Perimeter is adding all 4 sides together.

To find the length and width divide total perimeter by 2:

21 / 2 = 10.5

We now know the length of 1 side and the width of 1 side need to equal 10.5.

Since the original piece was a square we also know the width needs to equal 1/2 of the length.

So we have L + 1/2L = 10.5

Add the common terms 1 L + 1/2 L = 1 and 1/2 L

To Find L divide 10.5 by 1-1/2, which equals 7

To find the width subtract 7 from 10.5, which equals 3.5

So the paper is now 3.5 inches by 7 inches.

Prove the following theorem indirectly. We will give you a start. Prove that a triangle cannot have two right angles. A triangle
andre [41]

A triangle that has no two right angles is called a scalene triangle.  If the triangle has two right angles, it is called isosceles triangle. A triangle with equal sides is called an equilateral triangle.
